What I Always Longed To Say

Questioning the Year

Was a stone removed
Deducted from your store 
Of miseries
And unknowingly,
Deliberately
Extended to someone else's fate ?

Were smiles spread
Out of greed 
Lust 
Snatched
And torn
From some body else's plate ?

Did your hearts
Chimed of faith 
And truth
Or ringed lies
And tales of 
Evil ?

Were hands held
Symbol of power,
Unity
To knock a weak,
Unprotected
Out dead cold ?

Did you instead of
Shedding a sole tear
Become a reason
Of someone
Somewhere, alone
Sobbing ?

Did the thread of life
Wrap smoothly
In your hands or
Like a tangled mass of strings
Submerge you wholly,
Completely within ?

Was this year
The one that you longed
For in the last
Or like an unfruitful maze
That you failed to emerge 
Out as from ?
