//AU: okay okay, so just pretend like George didn't see the color of the fabric. And he didn't freak out about it. Instead he picked it up because he felt like he should. 'Ight hope that's clearrrr//
I squinted my eyes open as the early sun light shone through my make-shift door. I slowly stretched my arms, and swung my legs around my cot too stand. My stomach growled, oh right... I remembered I hadn't eaten last night. I looked around for any food I have. Empty. Damn it! How did I not realize?
"HUuuughhh!" I sighed, "now I have to find something while I'm out." I grabbed my small backpack. I shuffled through the items in my bag. Flashlight, pocket knife, water bottle, ect. I snatched my water bottle, and took a sip. I shoved it back into my backpack, as I was putting back into my bag I felt a soft fabric brush against my knuckles. I twisted my hand around, so that I could hold it in my hand. I pulled it out, and realized it was some small piece of fabric. It seemed to have been ripped. Oh! It was that fabric I found yesterday. Why had I kept it? I threw it onto my bed lazily. I started on my Journey to find food.
I had been walking around for a few hours. The sun was now completely up. My feet were sore. I squinted into the distance, and I saw a convince store.
"How Convenient" I laughed to myself. I quickened my pace, finally something that isn't completely in ruins. I got to the door. It seems like it had been locked, but someone ripped on of the doors of. It hung from one of the hinges; there was a small opening at the bottom. I crouched down, got on my hands and knees, and crawled through the doors. It was dark in here except for the sunlight from the front windows. I grabbed the flashlight from my backpack, I shone the light around. I saw bags of chips, and bottled water. "This is like the heaven of the apocalypse" I grabbed a bunch of food, so that I would have enough to not have to come here anytime soon. I decided to get a snack as a reward for myself. I sat down against a wall, and began eating a small bag of chips. shf shf shf. I froze. I grabbed my knife. I looked around. shf shf shf. I stood up and pulled my bag on. shf shf shf. I stared at the end of the aisle waiting for one of those monsters to come around the corner. shf shf shf.
"Rarf!" I stared confused at the sound. That definitely wasn't the sound of a Zombie. I slowly walked over to the sound. I quickly turned the corner, and there was... a dog? The dogs tongue lolled out the side of his mouth, his eyes squinted as it wagged it's tail. I smiled at the dog. It jumped onto be licking my face.
"hahaha okay okay! Stop it now!" I gently pushed the dog off. It seemed to be a German Shepard. "Do you want to stay with me buddy!?" The dog smiled at me his tung hanging out the side of his mouth. "I'll take that as a yes!" I ruffled the dogs fur on his back. He turned slowly leaning into the scratch. "I'll call you Salem!" I smiled back at him. Rarf! Salem barked loudly. "Shhh!" I gently held his mouth closed. I stood up and started back to my base. Salem trotted beside me.
I had gotten home, if you can call it that, and slipped into my cot. Salem lay under the cot. I pet his head slowly, and I heard his breathing steady as his eyes closed. I stopper and curled up in my cot. I smiled too myself.
I finally had a friend.
