I shoved debris away. Working and fast as I could. Salem sat next to me wagging his tail excitedly. I panted as my arms ached from digging. I pushed off more and more until I was able to see his face.

"Dream!" I held his face lightly. My arms wrapped around Dream's torso. I pulled him up out of the pile. "Dream... wake up! P-please!" I whispered to him. Salem sat beside me rubbing his face against Dream's hand. I looked back up to the sky... Sunset. "Damn it! Dream please wake up!" I pleaded, tears began forming at the corners of my eyes. "Dream..." My voice cracked. I held Dream against my chest while rubbing his back. The sky became dark. I could barely see anything around me, but I had to get too shelter. The zombies were a lot more aggressive at night. I wrapped my arms under Dream's, and pulled him into the convenience store. Salem followed closely. Whining at Dream softly.

I sat down with Dream in my arms; in the corner of the store. I grabbed my water and splashed a little on his face- hoping it would cause him to wake. I stared at his face. Tears were now rolling down my face, one after another. Salem scooted closer to me, laying his head on my leg. Dream's eyes fluttered open slightly.

"Dream!" I whispered, and hugged him tightly. "Dream your okay!" Dream coughed lightly.

"George?" Dream asked.

"Yes it's me..." I pulled him away too look at his face. Salem's tail wagged and hit the floor with soft thuds. I held Dream's cheeks in my hands. Admiring his face. He flung his arms around my neck. I hugged him back. Dream began too sniffle into my chest.

"I- I thought you were gone..." Dream began "I didn't th- hicc- I would find anyo-one" I hugged him tighter, squeezing him against me. Salem nugged his way in between us. Dream pet Salem on his scruff, "Mud!" Dream exclaimed, "Your alive!" he hugged the dog. I still had my arms around them both. Dream's legs were laying across mine with Salem sitting on him. Dream began too nod off too sleep. I held him and Salem as they slept in my lap. I have to stay up- to make sure they stay safe. My eyes begged for sleep, but I knew I couldn't. We would be defenseless if I did.

I slowly grabbed my back pack, and pulled my gun out. Just in case. My eyelids were heavy, and I closed my eyes and snapped them back open. Again and again that happened. Until I couldn't stay awake for any longer. My eyes closed, and I fell asleep.

My eyes snapped open, I looked around. Salem and Dream were gone.

"GGGRRARRR!" a loud deep bark came from outside. It sounded like Salem! "GRAR GARAR RAR RAR!" more barks came. I grabbed my gun, and slowly walked to the entryway. I looked to the ground and saw- blood?

"Shi-"

"Arr!" a high pitched yelp sounded. I ran towards the sounds following the blood trail as well. I turned the corner too see Clay laying on the ground surrounded in blood, with Salem standing over him. I looked to what Salem was barking at, sure enough it was one of the zombies. I held my gun at it. The zombie began to run at Salem and Clay. I shot it over and over and over.

Bullet after bullet.

Shot after Shot.

Bang after Bang.

The zombie lay on the ground, I paused and breathed in deeply. I ran over to Clay and crouched down. Salem was licking his face.

"Dream!" I shouted "Dream! Please oh god no! Please please please!" Salem laid his head on Dream's chest, and whined. "Dream-" my voice cracked. I hugged him while he still lay on the ground.

Dream was gone.
