Chapter 5 Father

No one

A bluenette smiled up at her father telling him about something holding the straps of her bag not noticing a pair of chocolate brown eyes on the father and daughter.

Black eyebrows furrowed in anger as the bluenette was scooped up in the arms of her older brother who laughed at his sister's excitement over the news she had just received from her mother my big brothers better than her older brother the girl turned to look at the blonde who currently seemed to be in an argument with her long-time crush turning back to the siblings who wore a smile I wish onii-chan was- "Layla you're doing it again" Layla Fullbuster's mother interrupted her thoughts although they weren't really that happy.

Like this Layla Fullbuster found herself watching her rival in love (one-sided) Mana Dreyar day in and day out while waiting for her father to return from his long solo mission.

Gray Fullbuster knew that occasionally was the cause of Layla comparing everything she had versuses what Mana Dreyar had it made the guilt in his heart rise everytime although Lucy was doing a good job to ease that guilt however he couldn't help it when he returned to the guild from the job request he knew... Gray just knew that his daughter despised the fairy tail guild's princess when he caught her constant eyes on Makarov Dreyar, the person he hated (besides Natsu) Laxus Dreyar and the daughter of his ex-lover who seemed pleased with whatever they were talking about her closest friend on the table they were sitting at playing with her short curly blue hair.

That night Gray lied awake in bed thinking over the situation he hadn't realised his wife Lucy was awake until she had wrapped her light arms around him calling out to him gently knowing the sensitivity of the situation humming he turned to face "it's not your fault you can't do anything if Layla hates her" she reasoned "but if I wasn't away on missions so much then maybe I would've been able to prevent this hatred" sighing Lucy placed her hands on his cheeks "Gray... you are around the kids you barely go on missions that much since Layla was born..." she paused choosing her next words carefully to make her husband see reason "you're a great father so please stop blaming yourself" they stared at each other silence falling over the room neither looking away finally Gray broke it pulling his wife closer whispering a soft thank you in turn a smile curved the blondes cherry red lips as she placed a kiss upon his head.

The next day Lucy planned an outing for her family inviting the other girls along "this is so relaxing" Levy said admiring the scenery "it was a lovely idea to go out Lucy" Juvia says tearing eyes off her two children "I agree it is lovely to be able to relax" Erza Fernandes added her huge belly showing "I still don't see why we're here of all places" Natsu says earning eye roll from his best friend "isn't the scenery beautiful though Natsu?" Lisanna Dragneel asks referring to the beautiful scenery of clear lake water with trees surrounding either side of it a few flowers surrounding them along with creatures "I do say it is quite sirene here" Freed says Mirajane nodding her head "I just hope Mana doesn't wonder off" Laxus added watching his daughter and Mamoru interacting with a forest creature Raiden beside them both playing around "oh look Lucretia and Akiro seem to be bonding" Bickslow pointed out "I'd hardly call that bonding but those two just looking for an excuse to go on a date" Evergreen says Elfman standing up abruptly saying something about being 'a real man' earning him a kick from his wife Evergreen Strauss "I still cannot believe those two are seeing each other" Wendy Conbolt said "yeah who knew" Romeo Conbolt added you see the guild only found out a few months back that Lucretia Justine was seeing Akiro Conbolt much to the shock of their parents.

Lucy Heartfillia smiled once she noticed her two children spending time with their father feeling a weight lifting off her chest.

Once the Fullbuster's returned from the guild they gathered around the fireplace Gray grabbing a book the rest of the cold winter night they spent looking at old pictures and drinking hot chocolate Gray Fullbuster felt that his family was complete again a giddy happy feeling enveloping his heart.
