Hannah couldn't help noticing her reflection in everything. She felt ok but didn't know if she was a little underdressed. She only really had one pair of sneakers but they were her old favorites.
She hadn't figured out what to do with her hair when Zack started playing up while they were waiting on Tammy. The doorbell rang.
“Zack can you stop doing that!”
Her eyes widened seeing the gorgeous woman starring back at her.
“Hi!”
She was taken back a moment. She was so underdressed. “Tammy’s not here yet.”
“That's ok.” Taylor stepped into the doorway. “We can wait.” Hannah closed the door taking in her jeans and jacket combo confirming the wardrobe attire for the night.
Taylor heard Zack yelling from the direction of the kitchen. “I think he knows mums going out.” She smiled. Hannah suddenly relaxed.
“Yeah,” She waved. “I haven’t even had a chance to change.” Taylor noticed she was a little out of her comfort zone.
“I can hang with him.”
“Really?”
“Sure. And hey,” Taylor smiled. “Just be comfortable ok. You are gorgeous no matter what you wear.”
Hannah grinned from ear to ear. She watched her disappear into the kitchen hearing Zack's excitement to see her. She headed upstairs knowing she was going to enjoy this night.
~~~
Hannah checked the time again looking over at the door of the studio. Taylor was due any moment with Zack. She was excited to see her again.
Saturday night had been the best night she'd had in a long time. Taylor had taken them out along the pier to the night markets. They had tried all different types of food as they made their way through the crowds. They had listened to the live bands and enjoyed watching the sideshows along the walk. Hannah had linked her arm through Taylors in the attempt to not lose her again. She had really enjoyed their time together.
“Mrs. Wade?”
Tammy’s voice brought her back to the present. “Do you want to start the next routine?”
“Oh yes!” She drew her attention back to her lesson.
Taylor followed Zack into the studio quietly. The kids were all sitting on the floor in a semi-circle watching their teacher dancing in the center. Taylor and Zack took a seat. He leaned over her knee.
“You have to be quiet when they dance.” He whispered.
“Thank you.” She whispered back. Her eyes were glued to the woman dancing before them all. She sat forward. She was magical. Her movements were so graceful.
Hannah finished and the kids all clapped.
“Thank you.” She stood up seeing the woman sitting at the back of the room watching her. The corner of her lip curled. “Tammy can you teach them the first couple of moves. I'll be right back.”
Taylor didn't know why but she stood up as Hannah approached.
“Hey.”
“Hi, Tay.” Hannah stepped into her wrapping her arms around her hugging her.
“Oh ok.” Taylor wasn't expecting that. It was nice. “Um, that was...” She indicated to the center of the room where Hannah had danced.
“You’re amazing.” She blushed to see the brown eyes staring back at her.
“Thank you.” Hannah touched her arm. “Hey.” She tapped her son on the leg. “Did you enjoy practice today?”
“Yip!” He was trying to kick his shoe off.
“Him and his shoes...” She shook her head. “Are you staying a while?” She asked drawing her attention back to her. Taylor smiled.
“Depends, Do I have to put on one of those and a tutu?”
“Of course!” Hannah laughed hoping she was going to stay.
“No thanks. But...” She looked at Zack beside her. “What if I take this one for a ride home with me and we can meet up somewhere? I owe you so my shout.”
“Ok, only if you are ok with him? He can stay here.”
“Nah.” She picked up his bag. “Zack wanna come for a ride to my house? We can meet mum at the park.”
“Ok Coach.” Taylor smiled at his mum.
“Just text me when you finished.”
Hannah looked at her son eager to leave.
“Zack you be good for Taylor please.” He grabbed Taylors' hand nodding.
“Bye mum!”
“Bye baby.” She caught Taylor cheekily pointing to herself. “And you too.”
Taylor laughed heading towards the door.
“See you soon.”
~~~
Hannah pulled up to the park next to Taylors' truck. She could see the two of them running around kicking a soccer ball. Her boy could kick! And he was running around in bare feet!
Taylor caught her out of the corner of her eye.
“Zack!” She pointed over to his mum.
“Mummy!” He ran over almost knocking her over.
“Wow!” She hugged his shoulders. “Look at you running really fast!”
“Yeah, mummy watch!” He ran off in the direction of the ball. She looked at Taylor coming her way.
“What have you done to my son?”
Taylor put her hands on her hips puffing.
“I know right.” She stopped in front of her. “As soon as his feet touched the grass he was off. He hasn't slowed down!”
Hannah laughed watching her boy playing with the ball.
“Looks like you might have found his calling.” She nodded to Taylor.
“Yeah.” They watched him.
“He can kick.” She glimpsed at Hannah. “He might have to change teams.”
Hannah looked back at her.
“He might have to.”
They looked at each other a moment before Taylor pursed her lips.
“Hey, Zack! You hungry?!”
Taylor led her over to the picnic rug she had laid out under the tree. “Sorry, it's not fancy.” She said as Hannah sat down on the rug. “I grabbed what I had in the fridge.”
Hannah smiled seeing the platter of cheese and crackers, potato chips, ham, bread, and mayonnaise. She started laughing.
“What's so funny?”
“Pizza!”
Zack flopped down on the rug. Hannah shook her head watching her son pull out the pizza box under Taylors' jacket.
Taylor laughed.
Hannah looked at her completely busted.
“Oh, thanks champ!”
“Shame on you!”
“Well, I wasn't sure if you'd have any. Isn't it too many carbs or something? I was only thinking of you.” She teased pushing the lid back. “It's like the healthiest one they have.”
Hannah examined the vegan thin-crusted pizza. She smiled.
“I'll keep you on.”
“Thanks.” Taylor handed her a slice. “I don’t want to be blamed for you not dancing as amazingly as you do.”
“Years of practice,” Hannah said with a mouthful. “I don't think you can ruin that with one pizza.”
Taylor glimpsed at her tights under her jersey a moment. She asked.
“Have you always wanted to dance?”
“Mmm, since I was a kid.”
“Is there anything you can't dance?”
Hannah smiled at her interest.
“Well...” She swallowed. “You know I love those popular dance movies but I’m too classically trained I can’t quite move like that...”
Taylor smiled through her pizza.
“You got no rhythm.”
Hannah tilted her head.
“I have rhythm.”
“Sure.” Taylor laughed as she shook her head.
“When was the last time you went out dancing at the clubs?”
Hannah shrugged her shoulders.
“Alright, I'm taking you out Friday night.” Taylor looked around for the drink she brought. “Hang on I left the drink in the truck.”
Watching her go Hannah heard Taylors' phone beep. Glimpsing over at her she picked it up. The text was locked. She lit the screen again looking at the interesting lock screen.
“Your phone beeped.”
Taylor looked at the expression on her face as she took it out of her hand. She read her text then looked at Hannah still starring at her.
“Interesting picture,” Hannah noted taking another bite of her pizza.
Taylor wet her lip blushing slightly.
“I have an appreciation for the female form.”
“Oh, I can see that.”
“Is that a problem?” Taylor tried to be confident in her approach.
Hannah noticed the slight uncertainty in her tone. She smiled.
“Is there someone who will get jealous of you spending time with me?”
Taylor laughed to herself letting out a huge breath. “You’re safe for the moment.”
Hannah laughed.
Taylor watched her a moment.
“Have you heard from your husband?”
Hannah watched Zack munching away on his pizza.
“He rang last night.” She sighed. “He couldn't talk long. He had a meeting or something to get to.”
Taylor tilted her head.
“Does he go away like this often?”
“Yeah, I’ve got used to it. Sometimes it’s weirder him being home. I get so used to him not being around.”
“That must be hard on your marriage?”
They looked at each other. Hannah smiled to herself. She knew what she meant.
“I dance.” She laughed.
“By yourself?”
“When I have to."
Hannah threw a pineapple at her seeing the cheeky smile.
Taylor sighed looking at Zack.
“Maybe I shouldn’t take you out on Friday your husband might not...”
“Hey don't you worry about him! I'm going to have fun trying to find someone for you.”
Taylor laughed.
“I have no problem finding my own dance partners thank you.”
“Well, you’re single so obviously not.”
Taylor sighed, picking up another slice.
She noticed the grin come across Hannah’s cheeks.
“I’m going to regret this aren’t I?”
“Most definitely,”
