*Taylor's POV*
I took a deep breath. I walked into the kitchen and set down my bags. I sat at the island and put my head in my hands.
I had no clue how I was gonna do this. I don't even know how I'm supposed to sleep tonight without Harry. I need to stop thinking this way. I need to be strong for my kids.
I stood up and went in to the living room where Alex was sitting. Leave it to her to turn on Law and Order as soon as we get home. I chuckled and sat down next to her.
"You don't have to use your wheelchair in the house if you don't want. Well get you crutches." I say wrapping my arms around her and stroking her hair.
"Hallelujah." Alex says leaning into me. She clings close to me as we watch Olivia Benson by a badass, "I want to be like her someday."
"You should. You'd be a pretty awesome detective." She smiles a little. Selena walks in a minute later and plops onto a chair. We watch two episodes of Law and Order before I get up to make some food.
"What do you want to eat?" I ask.
"Pasta." Alex mumbles.
"Sounds good." I say nodding and walking into the kitchen. I grabbed the box of pasta from a cabinet and began cooking it.
While the water was boiling, I leaned back on the counter and took a deep breath trying to hold in my tears. Visions of Harry kept replaying in my mind.
Flashback
"Talk about, talk about, talk about you." Harry sings along to Funky Town playing over their speakers. I laughed loudly as he danced with me. We were cooking dinner.
"Harry your such a dork." I say holding my sides from laughing so hard. Alex and Bentley come running down the stairs playing tag, "Careful guys."
"Dance with me, children!" Harry says picking up both of the five year-olds and dancing. They both laugh and dance in his arms. Harry grabs my hand and spins me.
End of flashback.
That was one of my favorite moments I ever spent in this house.
I smiled at the memory before continuing to cook. I made a quick salad before straining the pasta and putting it in a bowl, "Dinners ready!"
Selena goes upstairs to help Bentley while I try and help Alex to the table. I help her stand and let her use me as a crutch so she can limp to the table. I knew she'd want as much freedom to walk possible so I didn't try to carry her.
"Good job, girlie." I say as she sits down in her usual chair. I made her a plate and set it down in front of her just as Bentley and Selena came in. We all filled our plates and sat down. Selena knew not to sit in Harry's chair so it just sat empty.
We said grace and began eating. We were all pretty tired by the time we finished so we went up to bed. I carried Alex most of the way and had her walk a little. I was bringing her to her room when she stopped me, "Can I sleep with you tonight?"
"Of course, Al." I said smiling slightly and bringing her to my room. I laid her down on the bed and put the covers over her. I went and changed in my closet before coming back and laying next to her.
I held her close as we both began to cry a little. I stroked her back as she slowly drifted off. It took me about 10 more minutes of silently sobbing to fall asleep.
*Bentley's POV*
I woke up sweating. I had a dream about the crash. I'd never be able to get that image to stop replaying in my mind. I decided to go into my moms room so I got up and crutched to her room opening the door quietly.
"Ben, is that you?" My mom asks half-asleep.
"Yeah. Sorry. I had a nightmare." She holds her arm out and I climbed into bed next to her. I didn't even care that I was 13 year-old boy who should be embarrassed of his mom.
I leaned into her and tried to sleep as she ran her hands through my hair. My mom was the best at making people feel better.
I closed my eyes and slowly fell asleep.
