“OK, I think I got this!” Allen looked excited. Large eye danced in the light streaming from the high windows of the cafeteria. It was only lunch time and I was exhausted.  Today had been one roller-coaster ride after another. We had all been telling Allen what we were. Noise was laughing at him.
“No one in this school is human?” We nodded. “Everyone is like a different supernatural being?” Again we nodded.
“I sure hope they are nodding and we are not all sitting here just starring at the poor kid!.” Noise chuckled.
“They are.” Allen beamed at him. If Noise could see that smile, I thought. It was like Christmas morning, he looked so thrilled.
“Noise you're a werebear?” he shook his head. “So there are other types other than werewolves?”
“Yes. Actually many types. The general term is animal shifter or just shifter.” Noize explained in his calm manner. “Werewolves in the stories do not control their change. Shifters can. Many prefer to live in the woods. Some stay human and never shift, some like to remain animal and never shift. Most use what they are to better their lives. I have decided to dedicate my abilities to the greater good, or Komui whatever that mad man wants with me.” Those around the table laughed.
“Lavi, you're a demon?” he asked looking at me. Drawing in a deep breath I let it out slowly.
“There are many types of demons.” I began. Groans were heard around the table followed by some snickering. I tossed a few fries at the closest offenders. “I’m a trickster demon. Not a lowly one that hides your car keys on you, more like…” I waved my hand in the air thinking. “The type to get you to gamble away your life savings or sell your soul to the devil.” I smirked. “I love that one. No one gets it!” I laughed. Kanda ched at me.
“Isn't a Jinn like a genie?” Allen asked him.
“I don’t grant wishes kid!” he snarled.
“He's more like an evil Santa.” I told Allen. The white haired boy laughed. He hugged Timcampy to his chest. The sprit conductor seemed to be happy with his host.
“Have they decided what you are?” Alma asked. Allen tucked his head into the golden ball in his arms.
“I am a phantom. I can go from human form to dematerialization without warning. Tim here.” He lifted the ball slightly. “Helps me stay human. They want me to work on controlling my shift and possibly being able to touch or manipulate objects in spiritual form.” He didn’t look pleased with this.
“Why the long face?” Miranda asked. Allen sighed.
“It was Lvellie's suggestion.” We grew silent. The bell rang. Surprising everyone, Kanda snagged Allen's sleeve.
“Come on bean sprout, you’re with me.” For once Allen didn’t argue. He looked lost inside his own skin as he followed the Jinn out of the room.
“What do you think Lvellie wants with him?” Noise asked as we took care of our trays.
“Nothing good.” I stated. “There is definitely something strange in our neighborhood. Keep your ears open, k?” I asked him. His head turned in my direction.
“Anything for you, Lavi.” We parted ways at the end of the hall. Trudging down the corridor I nearly walked into someone.
“Oh, sorr…” the apology stalled on my lips as I looked into the golden eyes of the lust demon.
“Ah sweet Lavi.” A long thin finger touched my chin. He traced it along the angular surface of my jaw line. I clenched my teeth.
“What are you doing here?” I demanded. He pointed to the board he had been looking over.
“Seeing what extra curricular my new school offers.” He added.
“How funny your ugly mug shows up here the same day as Lvellie.”  His hand pulled back from my face. Placing it palm against his own cheek he chortle.
“Oh, you find me ugly?” golden eyes danced under long lashes. “That’s not what you said not too long ago.”
“Lavi, you're going to be late.” Glancing over I saw Krory watching us. His narrowed eye surveying the demon before me.
“A vampire, I guess they really do let all kinds in here.” The attractive man stalked away, calling over his shoulder. “We will have our day, Lavi.”
“Who was that?” Miranda appeared by Krory's side.
“A lust demon named Tyki Mikk.” I told her. “Trust me when I say stay away.” We went to our next class. Allen was sitting in the front row chatting with Suman Dark, an elemental who was showing how he can create fire in one hand and water in the other.
“That is really neat.” Allen exclaimed. Sunman’s dark face brightened at the praise.
“Yes, but try taking him into the city.” Tyki's smooth voice floated out from behind me. I snagged the seat next to Allen before the creeper could. With a tsk he dropped into the seat behind me.
It felt like forever before I was climbing the stairs to go back to my room. I wasn’t even halfway up the stairs before I heard the yelling.
“Its not difficult if you had half a brain!”
“Why would I care to remember it!”
“Why are you…?” I stepped into the hall. There, in front of my room no less, stood Kanda and Allen screaming at each other.
“Sounds like true love to me.” Noise chuckled. Krory snorted.
“My my what a sight.” Tyki commented. That was enough for me. I marched up to them. Forcibly inserting myself between them.
“Allen don’t worry, Kanda only gives his little nicknames to people he truly cares about. Feel special if you have more than one.”
“Shut up you stupid rabbit!” he yelled from behind me.
“See.” I dropped my arm to his shoulder pinching his cheek while preventing him from touching the sword. “You just have to admire his capacity to love!” Laughter and snorts echoed in the hallway.
“I am going to kill you, dumb bunny!” I patted his shoulder.
“I love you to, Yu!” I giggled.
“You're dead!” he bellowed.
“Run.” I told Allen mildly. He looked amused. I shook my head feeling Kanda squirming at my side. Tightening my grip on him I told the scarred teen before me.
“I mean it, run. Get into my room. He is going to be like a charging bull when I let go.” Allen's eyes grew wide. Spinning on his heels he raced to my room holding the door open.
I kissed the top of Kanda's head. “One day in the far distant future, we shall look back on our time together with heartfelt fondness.” I told him. I let go and raced into my room. Allen slammed the door shut, a thud was herd on the other side.
Quickly we locked it. Watching it rattle on its hinges as Kanda screamed from the other side. Looking over at Allen who stood in the middle of my floor, books spewing out from where he ran over them, our eyes locked.
“Well that was such a fun day right?” I asked. His mouth hung open for another second. We both ended up on the bed laughing so hard we couldn’t breath. I rolled over to look at him. Propping myself up on my hand. He stopped laughing to watch me.
“The good news is we are safe. The bad news is he doesn’t give up easily. We are probably trapped in here for the night. For me that isn’t so bad. But you, well I don’t have a lot of food in here.” I pointed out.
A thin pale hand reached out to touch my face. “You have really pretty eyes. Why do you wear the patch?” I closed my good eye pressing my face into the warmth of his hand. He was sweet, this lonely boy.
“A childhood accident.” I whispered.
“I’m sorry.” His hand fell away. “We have Timcampy.” He said. I blinked at him. “We can send Tim to Jerry with a message that we are trapped in here because of Kanda!” he cried excitedly.
“Jerry, the chef? You are already of first name basis with the cook?” I laughed why would this even remotely surprise me. The white head nodded.
We scribbled out a note and tied it to the golden ball. Opening the window, Allen once again gave the golem its instructions. The thing shook up and down as if to nod before zooming away. Turning back to me, his face was split with that infectious grin.
“We will have food in no time.” Now he looked around my room. “Why do you have so many books?” he asked.
“I’ve to read and know things.” I told him as I set to work cleaning up from our mad dash in here. Without being asked, Allen assisted me. By the time we were done there was a tapping on the window and a knock on the door. We looked at each other.
Tim was at the window so Allen went to retrieve him. “Whose there?” I called through the thick wooden door.
“Your savior!” Jerry's enthusiastic voice called back. Hurriedly I opened the door. No sign of Kanda but that didn’t mean much. Quickly I pulled the two large metal carts inside.
“Thank you!” I yelled slamming the door shut again. Bolting it I heard the cry of the Jinn. Allen looked startled at the fierceness of the warrior.
“Don’t worry. He will cool down, some day.” I added.
“How long are we trapped in here?” Allen asked. I was lifting lids to see what delectable we had.
“Until morning. Then Komui will have made it clear how unreasonable Kanda is being. That won’t mean he has forgotten.” We looked at each other. Allen shrugged.
“Lets eat then.” Laughing we did just that.
