"Wow, has it been five years?" Cat asked me, glancing at the calendar a fan made for us.

"Yeah, I guess it has. Five years exactly. We moved in together again," I grinned. "Just like the old days, right?"

"Just like the old days. Hey, wanna go out to get lunch? We can bring Anna."

"Yeah, sounds nice! I'll go get her. She's probably playing with Chewie." I ran upstairs to my bedroom. Surely enough, she was playing with our dog like I predicted.

"Mommy, I'm playing with Chew Chew!" Chewie and my daughter were both at war, tugging back and forth on one of Chewie's many toys.

"That's nice, Anna," I laughed. "Come on, we're gonna get some lunch with Auntie Cat. Put on your shoes."

"Okay!" She leapt right up, and did as I instructed, then followed me downstairs. "Let's go, Auntie Cat! Let's go!" She pulled at Cat's hand, and she stumbled to keep up with her.

"Whoa, settle down! Come on, Meghan, I don't think she can wait any longer." Cat laughed, and followed my eager daughter to the car. I buckled her in, and we drove off to lunch. I didn't remember what the name of the restaurant was, but I remembered what it looked like and how to get there.

When we arrived, we sat down, ordered, and ate our food. As Cat was talking, Anna pulled on my sleeve. "Anna, don't interrupt Mommy when she's talking, okay?" I said gently.

"Sorry, but some man keeps looking at you. Do you know him?" Anna asked curiously.

Some man? I thought. I looked around, and I saw someone sitting across the restaurant. Someone I did not want to see.

I saw his messy, brown hair, sloppily styled on top of his head. His soft green eyes, that still make my heart melt. When he saw I made eye contact with him, his eyes lit up brighter than they were before, and his mouth stretched out revealing his pure-white teeth.

"I... Uh... I gotta use the bathroom," I flustered. "I'll be back, guys." I stood up from the booth and located the bathroom doors. I gave Joey a look, indicating I wanted him to come over.

He understood, and half-walked half-ran over to me. "Meghan! Hi! How are you?"

"Stop! What are you doing here?" I demanded. "Are you following me around or something?"

"What? No!" Joey defended. "I had no idea you'd be here! I came here with Sawyer, but he had to leave early. I'm guessing you're still mad, huh?" He asked full of disappointment, but also a hint of hope lingering in his voice.

"Of course I am! Why wouldn't I be? You betrayed me! And I really needed you! You just... Left," I trailed off, sounding lost.

"I didn't betray you, it was a misunderstanding. I would never leave you. What were gonna tell me that day?"

"You know what, it doesn't matter."

"But it clearly must have if you were gonna tell me!" He argued, starting to get frustrated with me.

"Fine!" I almost yelled. "See that little girl sitting with Cat? That's our daughter. That day you were with Shane, I was going to tell you I was pregnant. With our kid."

Joey looked shocked. "O-our kid? What's her name?"

I hesitated for a moment, then I answered, "Anna Camarena."

"Anna Sun," Joey sang softly. Her name sounded safe when his voice said it. But I knew better.

"It doesn't matter anymore, Joey. I moved on. And Anna is fine without a dad. Goodbye, Joey." I stormed off and back to my and Cat's table. Joey didn't try to stop me.

"We're leaving. Did you pay the check? I'll pay you half of it back," I offered.

"No, it's fine, I got it covered," Cat assured. Once we sat back down in the car, she looked over at me, concerned. "Was everything okay? You seemed pretty ticked when you got back to the table."

"Yeah, it's fine. He just tried to get me to forgive him. Then he asked about Anna, and I explained that she was our daughter. It's getting annoying. I feel like I see him everywhere now. Sometimes I even dream about us. About nothing ever happening between us."

"Maybe it's your head telling you that you're still in love with him." Cat sounded as if she were a hundred years old saying that. It sounded so wise.

"What a bunch of crap," I muttered.

"Mommy? Who was that man you talked to?" Anna piped up.

"An old friend," I croaked. "I'm sorry, Sweetie, you wouldn't understand."

"That's okay," she smiled, understanding I was started to get upset.

"Let's just go home," Cat suggested, then revved up the car's engine. Not a word was spoken between the three of us. Although LA was lively and buzzing with energy, the car was the complete opposite; deadly silent.
