It was a weird moment... My life was dangling weakly, barely intact. My string keeping my life stable was thinner than you could ever imagine.

I felt ready to die. I was ready to leave the Earth, without a single care. In those few seconds, I could picture Cat taking care of my daughter, knowing she'd be a great mom...

But I did see another face. However, instead of moving on, their face was broken and mournful. That face was Joey. I shut my eyes, and prayed Anna, Cat, and my friends would be okay without me.

Everything was black, but I could still hear everything happening. Was this normal? I could hear Anna's raspy coughs, and ambulance sirens slowly getting louder and closer.

When it arrived, paramedics immediately pulled me onto a stretcher, then hauled me onto the ambulance.

"C-can I come?" Anna squeaked.

"Sure, is she your mom?" A man asked. She didn't respond, but I assumed she nodded. The paramedics and nurse began to attach my arm to an IV, and other medical things I couldn't figure out with my eyes glued shut.

"You know, you're lucky, Kiddo," a lady piped up. "You only got some cuts and bruises. Is your arm okay?"

"It hurts when I try to move it," Anna whimpered. She howled in pain as the wheels hit a bump, causing her to move her arm around.

"Probably broken," the man predicted. "We can patch that up for you back here. Your mother will have to get some stitches to stop her bleeding."

"Can I call my aunt on my mom's phone? If it works," Anna asked sheepishly. The paramedics agreed, and one pulled my phone out of my pocket.

There was a few moments of silence, then Anna started talking. "Hello? Auntie Cat? No, Mommy isn't driving, but we got in a crash... I'm fine, but Mommy isn't. She w-won't stop b-bleeding, and sh-she's asleep..." Cat sounded shocked on the other end. But Anna made it sound as if I were dead.

"Asleep means that they had to go," I had once told her when Beta had died. "She's only taking a long nap, and one day, you'll see her again."

But Anna was smart enough to figure out asleep meant died. It sounded as if she didn't want to say dying so she chose asleep.

The paramedics and nurses told Anna the name of the hospital (Sacred Heart Hospital) and Anna hung up after telling her.

After several minutes of silence, a nurse broke it, "I suppose I can put her on anesthetics for her operation at the hospital. It should take a couple hours to complete, she only needs some stitches here and there."

I heard her footsteps approach to the side of my stretcher, and I felt the cool liquid of the anesthetic roll down into my veins. Exhaustion quickly succumbed my already shut eyes, filling my world with more darkness than before.

I'm not sure if it's normal to have dreams when you've been put to sleep for surgery. But I did.

Joey and I were on the beach filming Anna Sun for Joey's millionth subscriber video. "I wonder what I'll do if I ever hit a million," I murmured to myself. I watched as Joey charged into the foamy blue ocean.

"Ah!! It's cold!!" He exclaimed. I couldn't help but laugh at him. I sat down on the packed sand, my curly wet hair sticking to my neck.

"Okay, action." I laid face-down on the sand, and I heard Joey yell my name. "Meghannnn!" His echo sang my name over and over, ricocheting through the sky holding the burning orange sun.

I heard his feet splash through the waves lapping around my body, and he flipped me over. I kept my eyes shut tightly, but not too forced. Confused, I sensed his hesitation. What was he waiting for?

"Joey," I urged quietly. Then, his lips pressed against mine. I expected him to pull away after a few seconds, but he didn't. Was this real? I kissed back, and opened my to meet the bright and beautiful sky. Joey looked down at me, and pecked my cheek.

"Was that real?" I asked, with slight reluctance.

"Yeah," he answered shyly. "I'm sorry. I felt like this was the perfect time to tell you."

"You fooled me," I grinned. I kissed his cheek in return. "But I think I'm in love with you."

His face lit up, and he pulled me into a hug, throwing me off guard a little. "Give it some thought, Megs."

"I will."

I was brought back to reality by the beeping of machines, recording my heartbeat. It sped up slightly, and someone said, "She's out of the anesthetics." I was still stuck inside the darkness I was trapped in earlier.

"Is she awake?" Anna's voice croaked.

"Soon, Honey. She's still in a coma."

A coma, I repeated in my thoughts. It makes sense. That's why I can't open my eyes.

"Ms. Valdes, you may come in now." Cat! She came!

"Is Meghan alright?" She asked, concern weaving through her voice.

"Ms. Camarena is stable, but she still isn't fully awake. I believe she'll wake up in a month at most." The nurse said sympathetically.

A month! My head screamed. Why can't I wake up? Why can't I open my eyes, and show Cat and Anna I'm okay?

"How is she?" Another voice came from nowhere, startling me slightly. I recognized the voice, but I couldn't quite put my finger on it.

"She won't wake up for a month," Cat repeated. But it sounded as if she were trying to convince herself rather than him.

"A m-month?" The voice stuttered. "Or else what?"

"We'll have to take her off life support," the nurse sighed. "I'm sorry. I give her my best wishes, Mr...?"

"Graceffa."

Joey. I knew that voice was familiar. Why do I feel this is his fault? If it's anybody's fault, it's mine. I stormed out of his house and wasn't watching where I was going...

If I don't snap out of this coma soon enough, it'll be my own fault. And I won't be able to say goodbye to my friends and family, or apologize to Joey. They don't deserve this at all...
