You got up and walked out of the office as fast as you could. YG had just torn you in half. One half of you longed to accomplish your dream of debuting which was so close, but the other half was willing to sacrifice it all for the girl you loved.
Despite your better judgement telling you to first stop and think things over, you couldn't wait and called Rosie immediately. You told her you wanted to see her ASAP, and she said you were welcome to come over.
You took the subway to her house and put on a brave face as her Mom greeted you at the door and gave you a hug.
"Y/N! So nice to see you my dear, we're all so proud of you and excited for your debut! Rosie's upstairs in her room, she'll be so happy to see you."
Those words brought tears to your eyes, which you fought as you walked up the stairs to Rosie's bedroom. When she saw you her face lit up into her beautiful smile, but it quickly vanished when she saw something was off.
You couldn't hold it anymore and choked up. Rosie ran over and pulled you into her arms. "Y/N - baby, what's wrong?"
All you could do was shake your head and sob. She didn't push you for answers, she just sat you down on her bed and pulled you into her chest, stoking your hair softly. "It's ok my love, I'm here for you. You can let it all out."
Instead of healing you, her care & kindness only made you feel worse for her. It took forever, but finally you had gathered yourself enough to talk.
"Rosie, I..."
You sat up and looked at her, and the innocent concern in her eyes broke your heart.
"What is it Y/N?" she asked, rubbing your shoulder gently.
You tried to think of a gentle way to explain, but there wasn't one. You just had to say it.
"Rosie YG said if I want to debut we have to break up."
Her mouth opened slightly and she stared at you blankly. She was too shocked to say anything. She stayed like that for a while, her only movement the blinking of her eyes. When she finally spoke her voice trembled.
"But..." she said quietly as a single tear ran down her cheek. "Y/N why?"
You looked away from her so as not to break down again. "Baby I wish I had a good answer, it's just... it's just the way this stupid industry is. Idols are supposed to appear available."
You looked at her again and saw the most heartbreaking thing. Rosie tried to stay strong, but as reality sunk in you watched her face change as she slowly lost the fight and broke down into tears.
This time it was your turn to hold her as she cried. With your soft angel in your arms, you were suddenly overcome with how much you loved her and felt the need to protect her. In that moment you knew you weren't leaving her side, whether you'd get to debut or not.
"I'm going to miss you Y/N" Rosie sobbed into your chest.
"You won't have to Chae. I'm not going to lose you just so I can debut. I love you way too much."
It was quiet for a minute. When she spoke, response was not what you'd expected, "Y/N I... I can't let you do that."
"What?" you asked incredulously. You'd expected her to be relieved.
"I can't let you tear yourself from your dream because of me."
You were lost for words as you tried to comprehend her response. "But... I want you more..."
"No," Rosie shook her head, "You've worked your whole life for this Y/N - and now you've made it. I couldn't bear to take that from you - I'd never forgive myself if I was the reason you didn't accomplish your dreams. That would be horribly selfish of me."
