I don't own RWBY. RWBY is owned by Rooster Teeth and was created by Monty Oum. I only own my OCs

Adam carried Qrow along with Ruby on the barren path in the middle of the grassy surroundings. In the morning, Adam had awoken around the same time as Ruby to see Qrow in a terrible condition

'It seems that his bad luck affects more than just people around him.' Adam thought as he walk with a grimace painted on his face

Adam heard Ruby sadly sigh behind him. He didn't know how to comfort her exactly in this moment. It didn't look like Qrow was gonna make it and Adam never was one to lie. But, Ruby deserved to have at least some hope that Qrow would make it through this. So, naturally, Adam did just that

"Ruby, I know it looks bad and that he might not make it, but there's still a chance he'll live from this." Adam told her, not exactly lying, but also not telling truth since Qrow's fate was uncertain. She only nodded her head

"Adam's right, Ruby. Qrow's gonna make it." Jaune said to her as well. Ruby sighed and looked forward for once

"I hope so." Ruby said grimly as she looked back down

Adam had never seen her like this. She was usually full of optimism and cheerfulness, but it was almost like she was a different person

"Tai... she's not coming home Tai." Qrow murmured in his fever-induced, poison-influenced dream or flashback

Adam didn't have any idea what he was talking about. Only that Tai was Ruby and Yang's dad and the one who took care of him while he was passed out. The path seemed to continue onward to the horizon. Of course, had Adam never prepared to go to Mistral in the first place, he would've thought they had another day or two in front of them

Adam knew better though. The world was big, but Mistral wasn't far compared to the distance they had already traveled. Still, Adam found himself still worrying about Qrow. He never faced a scorpion faunus. He'd encountered them, but he never fought one. He didn't know how potent the poison was. Adam didn't know if it would take a few days before Qrow died, or a few minutes. Qrow wasn't looking good and that's all Adam knew

"Look ahead. The path splits." Jaune pointed out

They hurried over as fast as they could, which wasn't fast since they were carrying an injured man. Adam knew that Qrow wouldn't make it to Mistral with this path through the mountains

"Mistral. And a path through the mountains." Frost said

"Not all of us can make that climb, though." Adam pointed out

"Adam's right. I'm not sure if Qrow can make that climb." Jaune repeated

"We need to find a different way around. We might not have time, but it's better than going in the mountains with Qrow. Kuroyuri... it was abandoned long ago, but if we're lucky, we might find even the simplest of medicine to stave off the poison." Adam said to them, which seemed to anger Ren

"We're not gonna find anything." Ren spoke out

"Maybe not. But it's worth a try." Adam replied to him as he walked over and kneeled to check Qrow's condition

"It's a waste of our time." Ren tried to convince Adam again

"But it's a better shot than taking Qrow through the mountains." Adam once again threw out at Ren

"We're not going to find anything. We just have to press on!" Ren exclaimed, scaring everyone

Well, everyone but Adam, who quickly stood up and got in Ren's face
