Chapter 8: "Who is Nicholas Flamel?"

After the quidditch match, Harry reunited with Ron, Hermione and Charlie and they were all chatting with Hagrid about what happened. "Nonsense." Hagrid gruffed out. "Why would Snape put a curse on 'Arry's broom?" "I don't know. Why would he attempt to get past that three-headed-dog on Halloween?" Harry asked as Hagrid looked startled. "Who told you about Fluffy?" he asked. "Fluffy?" Ron questioned. "That thing has a name?" "'Course he does. He's mine. Bought him off a fella of the pub last year. He is the only capable of the guarding the uh--" Hagrid started to explain. "Don't ask questions. I can't explain it. It's top secret." "But Hagrid, whatever Fluffy's guarding, Snape's trying to steal it." said Harry. "Codswallop! Professor Snape is a Hogwarts teacher." They then stopped walking after Harry, Ron, Charlie and Hermione explained that they have been trying to research. "Now listen ter' me. All 4 of yer'. Yer meddlin' in things that shouldn't be meddled with in the first place. What Fluffy's guarding is strictly buisness between Professor Dumbledore and Nicholas Flamel!" snapped Hagrid. "Nicholas Flamel?" Harry asked, Hagrid's face then softened. "I shuld' not have said that. I shuld' not have said that." he mumbled to himself as he walked away. "You don't suppose this" Nicholas Flamel" has a connection to the Philosopher's Stone, do you? " Charlie asked. Harry and Ron shrugged their shoulders while Hermione, like Charlie, was in deep thought. A few months went by, Charlie still transformed into his werewolf from time to time as he felt as if his condition was getting worse as the days went on that no one knew how to help him be rid of it for good, not even Hermione knew at this point. Harry, Ron, Charlie and Hermione spent many days in the library, every once in a while taking a break. 

Christmas was fast approaching, Charlie and Hermione had packed their bags as they had decided to leave Hogwarts for Christmas. Ron and Harry were playing Wizard's Chess when Hermione and Charlie walked over to them. "Knight to E5." Harry stated as his knight piece moved into place. Ron had a smirk on his face. "Queen to E5." he said as the Queen piece moved to the space before getting off her stand, picking it up and using it to destroy Harry's piece. "That's totally barbaric!" Hermione stated and not that impressed. "That's wizard's chess. See you and Charlie have packed." "See you haven't." Charlie answered before Hermione could to of which she gave him a slight smile before turn back to face Ron. "Change of plans, my family decided to visit my brother Charlie in Romania." "Wait, you have a brother with the same first name as me?" Charlie asked, Ron nodded. "Well that is good. You can help Harry then. He's going to look in the library to see if he can find any information on Nicholas Flamel." Hermione stated. "But we looked over a hundred times!" Ron whined. "Not in the restricted section. Merry christmas. Merry christmas Harry." Hermione said as she walked away with Charlie following hervafter wishing Ron and Harry a Merry Christmas too. Later, Harry and Hermione boarded the train after getting all their stuff on board and found a compartment where they could sit down and talk.  "Don't you think that you were a little bit mean to ask them to continue search over the holidays when it is supposed to be Christmas break?" Charlie asked her. She gave a slight glare as if to say 'don't question me about what I say'. Charlie noticed that she was annoyed and put his hands up in surrender. "Woah. Sorry I asked, Hermione." Charlie said. But Hermione went from glaring to breaking out a giggle with a smile at him while the train was moving. "It is quite alright, Charlie. You are a great friend. You really are." "Not as great as you." Charlie smiled back as Hermione blushed then hugged him as he hugged her back. When the train stopped, Charlie and Hermione got off together. Instantly, Hermione saw her parents. "Mum! Dad!" she screamed as she ran up to and gave them a big hug while Charlie stood behind her. "I've missed you!" "We've missed you too sweetheart." her mother smiled as she and her husband hugged her back. Seeing Hermione with her family made Charlie smile, thinking of how wonderful it would be if he had parents. "Mum? Dad? Have you met my friend Charlie?" she asked as she went back over to him. "Oh yes, how could we forget about you, Charlie? Our apologies." Charlie shook his head while smiling. "It is no trouble at all, Mrs Granger. It is so good to see you and your husband again." "Bless your heart, dear. Well Hermione darling, we better be going." "Just a moment mum. I'll be with you and dad in a moment." Hermione stated as she and Charlie walked away from her parents for now "You will write to me over the holidays and try to look for more information on Nicholas Flamel, right Charlie?" Charlie nodded. "Of course I will. Every day when I find time to do so." Hermione then smiled and gave him a tight hug as Charlie hugged her back. "Well then, have a very merry christmas and I will see you back at Hogwarts." with one final hug and smile at each other,Hermione then left with her parents. Charlie watched her go, how he wished that he and Hermione could spend the holidays together some time. It was then, he heard his name being called." Charlie!" the voice called out. He turned around to see Georgina accompanied by Claire from the orphanage. Georgina hugged him as he hugged her back. "So good to see you again, Charlie! We have missed you!" Georgina said with a smile as Claire approached, she was smiling as well. "I have missed you both too." he stated. "Shall we get going then? You can tell us all about it." Claire suggested as Charlie nodded as he packed all of his belongings into Claire's car and he, Georgina and Claire got into it and left the station, making their way back to the orphanage.
