It was the last day of summer. Aka the last day at camp. You weren't an all year camper so you had to deal with all the hard goodbyes. The good thing though, is that Chiron let the Aphrodite cabin host a dance. But you also really didn't want to go back to school.
School was absolute hell. Your peers always made fun of you. Of what, you weren't sure. But it made you feel awful. Once you found out about Camp Half-Blood, however, you started to feel better.
You made friends and got really close to your sibling(s). Your best friend was Percy. The son of Poseidon. He always made time for you even if he was doing something important. You would always hang out, talk about dumb stuff, and not so dumb stuff. He was your go-to for anything.
Little did you know that he was planning on asking you for a dance that night.

You were getting ready for the dance at Piper's cabin. Hazel and Annabeth were also there too, getting their hair and makeup done.
"So, Y/n, got anyone you want to ask to the dance?" Piper asked. You hadn't really thought about it. Yeah, there was Percy, but he was your best friend and you didn't think he liked you like that.
"Nah not really." You shrugged as you put on your shoes. (You can imagine what you look like).
"Pfft, yeah right, " Piper laughed, "You like Percy, don't you?"
"What? No! He's my best friend!"
"Oh come o-", Piper was interrupted by Hazel.
"Give the girl a break Pipes. She's already got a lot on her mind with going back to school." She looked at me and I gave her a look that said thank you.
You decided to change the subject of you to about them. "Well, who are you all going with?"
Piper said that she was going with Jason, Hazel was going with Frank, and Annabeth was going with some guy from the Ares cabin named Ashton.
I nodded, "That's great guys."
Annabeth came over to me, "Awww don't worry, we can have at least one dance together. All us girls." She smiled. (So I don't know how girls act even though I am one lmao. I'm not like most girls😂😂)
I faked a laugh, "Ok."
At the dance
The dance was being held at the dining pavilion. All of the tables were put up and we're replaced with folding chairs and tables. You tried to find Percy but he was nowhere to be seen. That kind of made you frustrated. You haven't talked to him at all today.
You made your way to the food table and Hazel came up to you.
"Hey, Y/n! Piper got the DJ to play Kokomo, it's coming on next. Let's go to the dance floor!" She then grabbed your arm and dragged you to the dance floor. Away from your precious cupcake.
It was worth it though. You met back up with Piper and Annabeth. The last song ended and Kokomo by The Beach Boys started to play. It was one of your favorite songs.
