Lucifer sat quietly on Amara's bed beside her suitcase as she packed for the extended stay at his home. He watched on with a small smile on his lips as she muttered to herself, thinking hard on which clothes will be appropriate to wear and possible activities they will do. He can simply sit and watch her all day long. Everything she does is simply intriguing.
"Do you really think that it's Dominion who placed the surveillance on me?" she asked aloud.
"There's a possibility that it is or some unknown enemy who wish to make themselves known soon," he answered honestly.
"You talk about enemies in such a calm manner. This is the norm for you and your family?"
"One can say that. I've grown up learning escape routes and safe words. When we were old enough, training began and also guards were selected. Our parents taught us about weapon safety and trained us with our weapons of choice. Everyone knows how to defend themselves and their family," he explained. This talk of his family's lifestyle had him unbalanced. It can go either way but Lucifer knows deep down, Amara was his woman through and through. This was just the preliminaries of their relationship.
"What if someone in your family doesn't want to be in the Mafia business?" Amara asked. She forgot about the two pairs of shoes she was having an argument with and turned her full attention on him.
"They are free to pursue what they want but they must learn how to protect themselves. My cousin Mikaela wants to be away from the Mafia. She's my uncle Michael's daughter. He has his own sector and soldiers, the businesses he owns are even part of the empire but he understands why his daughter wish to stay away. His wife, Chantal is the same."
"Oh. Wow. So back to this threat."
"Yes. During the two day lockdown I ordered, we will see who comes out to play. Small gangs tend to get cocky when they see no activity of the dominating leaders. The majority of them thinks the French Mafia is no more. Father stepped back and let me take lead," he explained.
"Interesting. The books didn't go in-depth on how the Mafia works," she countered with the cutest frown on her face.
"Not everything can be learned in the books, Ami," Lucifer said with a chuckle. She huffed and resumed her packing. He looked around her room and noticed it was only her domain that was decorated, it showed her bold personality while the rest of the house looked staged. Weird.
"Where are we going for dinner?"
"I'm thinking somewhere sedate. We've had enough excitement for the day."
"Did you... ummm... did you..."
"Kill the fucker who hurt you? No. Well, I can't remember if he survived the transport or not. I wish you allowed me to kill him," he grumbled. Amara tried her best not to laugh, Lucifer actually folded his arms in petulance and had a slight pout on his lips.
"I'm getting used to all of this, baby. I'm sure I will reach that level of normalcy soon. It's not everyday a girl finds out her boyfriend is a Mafia King, well soon to be," she countered with a silly grin. Her grin turned into a belly aching laugh when Lucifer playfully ran towards her, hitching her onto his shoulders and spun her around.
Listening to her laugh and her amused protest he threw her onto the bed and quickly covered her body with his, placing kisses all over face.
"I'm so happy that you are willing to give this a shot. Thank you for staying, my love," he said softly.
Reaching to touch his now growing beard, she can hear how his breathing changed and his dark gaze became intense. Amara loved the way he looks at her. The feeling of being his whole world takes over her, she hope its the same for him because he was her world now, her one and only.
