This story is requested by OwODragon, thank you for requesting this anime! I love it and I learned a lot about the mechanics of the game. Even though I'm not fond of playing volleyball I still try to make this story the very best I can go. Sit down and relax as I tell you the story of Y/n L/n's life in the game of volleyball! Enjoy :)

Third-person view:

It was another day, an average day to begin with. School days were just around the corner. The sun brightened the earth's surroundings, banishing any remnants of the dark corners. The green grass was covered in dew, making it appear as though it had rained overnight. The sky was clear, with clouds drifting lazily across the bright expanse above Japan.

And from one of the houses, a window was pushed open. With a ball clutched tightly in their arms, Y/n carefully climbed out. Landing with a soft thud, Y/n quietly ran away from home for a moment, eager to play the game she had grown to love.

Y/n's boyish hair brushed against the cool morning air as she ran, her knees pumping beneath her in a standard t-shirt, athletic shorts, and sneakers. She darted down the sidewalk, avoiding anyone who might bump into her. Soon, she came across a familiar figure with orange hair, waiting by the road.

"You're up early," the boy said, taking notice of Y/n sneaking away from home.

"You know I can't handle anyone's voice back home," Y/n responded, still holding the ball tightly. She got a good grip on the ball and, the 16-year-old's face lighting up. "Good morning, Hinata."

Shoyo Hinata, one of Y/n L/n's friends ever since she had moved into town, smiled back. The boy with orange hair, standing at approximately 162.8 cm (5'4.1"), climbed onto his bike. "Morning to you too, Y/n," he whispered.

"Ready to go?" Y/n asked Hinata. He nodded in response, and the two of them set off for the park. They followed their usual path. Hinata rode his bike while Y/n jogged alongside him, both determined to conquer the climb up the mountain.

They've done this routine almost every day. And in wasn't a surprise to them that it didn't take long for them to reach the park, where they immediately began their warm-ups. "Are you ready, little giant?" Y/n called out to the tangerine whose eyes spark.

"You know it, Y/N!" Hinata shouted, already in position and poised to spike the ball. Y/N couldn't help but giggle at the excitement radiating from him, his energy infectious. She felt her own excitement building in response.

As a dedicated setter, Y/N positioned the ball perfectly for Hinata, who launched himself into the air and spiked it to the ground with incredible force. Every time, Y/N was amazed. Despite his short stature, Hinata's extraordinary ability to jump twice his height made him a formidable player.

However, the ball flew off to the side, bouncing right into a tree behind them. Y/N quickly ducked to avoid getting hit. "Ah! Y/N, are you alright?" Hinata called out, concerned, as the ball rolled to the ground. He raced over to check on her.

"I'm fine, Sho," Y/N said, lightly shaken. But when Hinata didn't relent, she gave him a reassuring smile. "Really, I am. But I think it might be better if you don't spike the ball like that, okay?""I don't know, Y/N. I did try doing what you told me to do." Y/N placed her hand on Hinata's shoulder, gripping it tightly. She gave him a determined look; one he rarely saw on her face.

Ever since they became friends, Hinata had noticed a clouded look in Y/N's eyes, as if she was always lost in thought. It worried him, how every day she seemed to carry a hidden burden. He tried to understand where this look came from, and from what he had learned, it had something to do with her family.

But sometimes, he would see those clouds dissipate, like fog lifting off the ground. Now was one of those times. The determined look in her eyes was something he wished would stay there every day. He couldn't help but mirror her determination.

"Right! Let's try it again!" Hinata exclaimed loudly.

Y/N giggled and went to pick up the ball. They repeated their drills several times before transitioning to stretches, and eventually decided to head home.

As they walked, Hinata broke the comfortable silence. "Are you going to join the volleyball club tomorrow? You're one of the top aces, after all."

Y/n shrugged, a small smile playing on their lips. "Who knows? I might be a female inside, but playing this male role is something else entirely."

Hinata studied Y/n's features as they continued walking. Despite Y/n's masculine presentation, their face had a delicate, feminine quality. It was clear that Y/n's internal struggles were more complex than their outward appearance suggested.

When they reached home, Hinata paused and watched as Y/n waved goodbye and climbed up through an open window. Hinata lingered for a moment before turning to leave, thinking about the day ahead and the school they would soon be preparing for.

The next day dawned with the sound of insistent knocking echoing through a certain room. Groaning in annoyance, Y/n tossed the blanket to the floor and stumbled to the door. She couldn't keep her eyes open without having to unintentionally let a tear fall to her face.

"What?" she yelled, as her eyes barely open.

"Wake up, sleepyhead. The first day of school is here," Y/n's brother said, his face neutral as he looked at his sibling.

"Stop making that look. It's quite annoying," Y/n responded, yawning. Her brother merely smirked at her remark.

"School is here, and your mood hasn't changed a bit. I wonder what Mom would say about this," he teased, making Y/n glare at him.

"Don't you dare," Y/n warned, but her brother just scoffed, soon replacing his smirk with a concerned look.

"Crying again?" he asked, noticing her puffy eyes and cheeks. Y/n tried her hardest to put on a confused look, but it was too late. Her brother knew something had happened the previous night. He had heard the series of yells followed by the door slamming shut, echoing throughout the house.

"What about it? I'm pretty sure you know exactly why, so don't look like you care," she said before turning her back to him. "Now, I'm going to be actually late for school if you don't let me clean myself up. Excuse me." With those words, Y/n closed the door right in his face.

Unbeknownst to her, her brother really did care. He just didn't know how to express it or say it without giving two meanings to his words. "Just be down in 10 minutes!" he called out. Without hearing a response, he made his way downstairs with a saddened look on his face.

Once he reached the dining room, where everyone except for him and Y/n was gathered, he put on a smile. "Good morning, everyone." Their stepfather smiled, greeted him back, and then asked about Y/n's whereabouts. He pulled out his chair before sitting down.

"She'll be down in a few minutes."

"How slow can your sister be?" their stepfather asked, shaking his head in disappointment. Y/n's brother tried not to glare at him in return and instead looked away as they all waited for her to come down from her room.

Author's Note:

Hi! If you are reading this in 2024, 3 years since I last update anything in this book. I want you guys know that I'll be bringing up a few updates here.

Currently, I'm fixing the grammar and splitting in the long chapters into actual chapter. Say, a max of 5-8k words a chapter instead of the usually long 10k-20k words a chapter. I find it hard to read and boring as I was rereading this today.

I'm surprise there are people who actually like reading those kinds of long written chapters. Even so, thank you for it.

Anyway, I hope you all have a good day.
