[ Attack Junior High ]

You told your friends, Eren, Mikasa, and Armin about what bothered you. You told them about your father and his behavior, you told them how you felt lonely about it. The three of them sympathize with you and they are offering to help by talking to your father but you don't think it's a good thing and it will trouble them too much.

"It's okay, you three. I can bear with it. I've been,  for years." You flash them a smile.

"Call us if you need anything. Anything."  Mikasa emphasized on the anything part.

It's strange when you think of it. You were Mikasa's enemy. She hated you and you hated her but something happened between you two and now you both are best of friends. You had acquired a strong bond with her and her two friends. Then you also found out how you two are related. Well, not closely but you two are distant cousins, sharing the same last name. You only found it out when you became friends with her because you actually used your mother's last name, (L/n), when you first introduced yourself.

"(Y/n), why don't we go to watch a movie at the cinema? Tomorrow is Saturday right!" Armin gave an idea and you honestly think it's a good one.

"Sure, ah what about a sleepover at my house too?" Well, it's not like your father is going to be home.

"Can we? That would be awesome!" Eren grinned.

"Of course! There are plenty of rooms for us, We can buy snacks too and other food."

Little did you know, tomorrow would be (DOB) so it is going to be your birthday. You were thinking too much of other things that you had forgotten your own birthday.

At 6 pm, everyone has gathered at your home with their bags of clothes and snacks. You showed Eren and Armin the guest's room and brought Mikasa to your own room. Then you gathered in the living room and thinking of what to cook.

"My mom told me to give you this!" Eren gave you a fresh homemade (favorite fruit) juice which you gladly accepted.

"Please say my thanks to your mother later!"

You are very delighted to have them at your home. It's no longer as lonely and you actually have someone to talk to. After some intense discussion of food, Eren won the argument. They would make a cheese Hamburg steak or meatloaf for their dinner.

The four of you went to the kitchen and started preparing everything you need. Turned out Eren isn't exactly great cook so Armin tried to get him as far from the kitchen as possible. In the end, he is tasked with cleaning up and washing the dishes.

For the first time in a while, you actually used the dinner table and ate a lively dinner with someone. You actually had food you cooked from scratch and not just microwaved them.

After your dinner, you helped Eren cleaning the dishes. At first, he said you don't have to but you insisted and in the end, everyone is joining him to wash the dishes. You watched Netflix afterward and fell asleep. Mikasa had to carry you back to your room.

The sun shone brightly through the window. Its ray illuminating your room. You open one eye quickly feeling the burn in my shocked retinas, before slamming it shut again.

"Ugh... Are you awake, Mikasa?" You turned around to check on Mikasa, but, she is nowhere to be found. You tilted your head in confusion then climbed out from your bed, walking down the stairs.

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY, (Y/N)!"

Suddenly, your friends cheered and threw the confetti at you. Eren is holding a cake out for you as Mikasa and Armin sang you a happy birthday and told you to make a wish and blow the candle. Your body didn't know how to react, it just shut down. You froze for a while, counting the date and realized it is your birthday today. You then laughed and thanked them before you made a wish, for your father to be home then you blow all the candles out.

"Thank you, this is so sweet." You told them with tears of joy.

"Awww, we love you (Y/n)!" Armin replied.

Suddenly, your phone is buzzing. Everyone is sending you a birthday card. You saw your parent's friends, Hange and Erwin, Miche, Moblit and even Petra are wishing you a happy birthday. You expected your father to send one too but nope he didn't. Perhaps this year he'll forget about it too.

But you didn't want to let that ruin your day and your friend's efforts at making your day filled with joy.

You had pancakes and waffles for breakfast then you took a quick shower. When you finished Mikasa was ready to dress you up, she totally learned something from the magazine she had borrowed from Christa. She is doing a makeover on you, dressing you up as if you are the queen. Well, you are the birthday girl today. You deserve to be this fancy.

Eren and Armin blushed when they saw you after you got the makeover from Mikasa. They genuinely complimented you and Mikasa. After that you went to the cinema with them, watching a fantasy movie you've been dying to watch. You had lunch somewhere and spent the whole day with much happiness.  Sadly, the day comes into an end. Your friends had to go back.

They walked you back home, to take their bags too, and then when they finally went back, you felt that loneliness coming back to you again. You were about to close the door when you saw several boxes placed on your front door.

You took them and opened them once you're inside. It's all gifts. One from Hange, one from Erwin, and one from your classmates. There are letters attached to them as well.

Hello, (Y/n). This is my present for you.
Your mother loved (favorite flower) so I thought you might love it too.

All of those letters filled you with warmth. You are loved by them, it's obvious. You are very grateful for their kindness towards you. You sent everyone who wished you a happy birthday a thank you. But, you made it a little more special for your uncle and aunt. You called your uncle Erwin first.

"Oh, (Y/n)! Happy Birthday." Erwin answered and immediately wished you another happy birthday.

"Thank you for the (favorite flower) bouquet, uncle! I love it! I'll put it in a vase in my room."

"That would be great. How are you?"

How are you.

Those simple three words left you speechless for a while.

"Oh, I'm good! I just went to the cinema with my friends," you replied with your most cheerful voice.

"Really? You must be having a lot of fun. Don't forget to eat well and..."

You two conversed for a quite long time. It was clear that he cares about you deeply. You actually once heard that Erwin was your mother's closest friend. He was like a brother to your mother. Erwin made sure that you take care of yourself.

You tried calling your aunt Hange too but she didn't pick up. After a while, she sent you an apology. She was examining an unusual corpse and crime scene so she couldn't answer the phone. That's very Hange, a busy forensic.

You took a group selfie with your friends earlier and now you set it as your phone wallpaper, replacing the picture with your father. At least, now whenever you look at your phone, you remember happy times.

That night, you went to sleep after realizing your father aren't going to send you any text. Perhaps, he is busy with another new case and that is understandable.

You are used to it.
