The next morning, Levi hurriedly come back home. He opened every door at his house, looking for his daughter but she was nowhere to be found. He only found two letters, one from Erwin telling him how he had taken (Y/n) to his house and one from the child service.

Levi fell on his knees, his limbs went numb with absolute fear. Time stood still like never before. His pupils dilated, hands ached and his heart sunk to his feet. He twitched, only because his body reacted. But when his fear faded, everything returned slowly.

"No... No!" He slammed his hand on the table, almost breaking it.

He felt light-headed and a bit disoriented. His mind began buzzing with the voices. He whipped a sweat from his brow, trying to block the memory.

Memories of their once happy family.

He tried to recall one happy memory from the time after his wife passed, but he could only recall (Y/n)'s faces. The one which showed loneliness, sadness, and disappointment. He tried his best. But he still couldn't find a single memory of you smiling because of him.

Now that he thinks of it, he has missed a lot of things. He didn't go to your school plays, he had forgotten your birthday and even went mad like a child when he was back home for a little while before storming out again.

He left and when (Y/n) needed him, he wasn't there. He is such a fool. He slowly stood up then walked up to (Y/n)'s room. He sat on her bed then he noticed something.

There are lots of medals, certificates, and trophies lining up on top of her (f/c) shelf. Was it always this many? When did she get them? What did she win? How could he be this oblivious?

"I've been missing for too long."

Levi couldn't hold it back anymore. He puts his hands on top of his face and silently cried.

"I'm sorry (M/n). I've neglected our child."

He can not apologize to (M/n) anymore. But he knows, he still can apologize to you. With that, he quickly went to his car and headed to Erwin's house.

[ Erwin's House ]

You woke up inside an unfamiliar room. But you remember that Erwin told you he will bring you with him earlier when it was dawn. You had agreed on it, it doesn't matter anymore. Your father didn't want you anyway.

You are still trembling from time to time, remembering what had happened last night. Erwin promised you that he will call a psychologist or a psychiatrist to help you. He will call them once you are ready.

"I need to see my daughter!" You heard your father's voice downstairs.

"She will see you when she wants to see you not the other way around." Erwin calmly replied.

"Don't fuck with me, she is my daughter!"

"Oh, yeah? Then where were you all this time, Levi?"

You couldn't bear to listen to both men arguing so you went downstairs. Once your father saw you, he wanted to hug you but you hide behind Erwin.

"I'm sorry."

Instead of Levi, it was you who apologized.

"What?"

"...I'm sorry. It wasn't me. It should have been me. But it was mommy instead. I'm sorry I stole mommy's life."

You finally let out your darkest thought. It caught both Levi and Erwin aback. They never thought you'd think of something like that. What saddened Levi is that now he realized how your eyes are dead. No longer it showed the same gleams. Your once bright, happy (e/c) eyes are no longer the same.

Why didn't he notice it sooner? Right, because he never thought of taking a proper look at you.

"...I was so scared. I was so sick. I thought, at least, you'd be there for me. Why didn't you-" You choked back your sobs.

"Don't you know how lonely I am, how... In pain, I am too? I tried understanding you. But why... Why didn't you look at me for even once? Did you even know how I am called (Y/n) (L/n) and not (Y/n) Ackerman at school? I thought maybe, you'd be embarrassed to have a daughter like me. So even though in the legal documents it's Ackerman, I kept telling my teacher and friends to call me (L/n)."

"I'd rather be put in an orphanage. It's okay. I have accepted the fact you don't want me. I know I can prevent you from wanting to find a new love too."

"That's why. I'm sorry that I loved you." You didn't mutter anything else after that and went back to your room at Erwin's house.

"(Y/n), no-" Levi wanted to stop you but Erwin took his wrist and shook his head.

"She needs time. Now, you can learn how it feels to be ignored by someone you care about. I apologize, Levi. But please, leave for now. Take care." Erwin showed Levi the exit.

"I'll be back. I'll take back my daughter." Levi stated to Erwin before he left.
