party in the u.s.a! / ohshc au

this is for erin and lily :) love u leos.

please note: i do not exactly think living in the u.s.a is a party. as you can see, the u.s.a right now is a tough place to be in for minorities, as the system treats them unfairly. i just could not think of any other title.

A short intro to who I am and how this idea came about:

hi! i'm danny, and this is yet another ohshc fan fiction. i have been revisiting my middle school hyper fixations and this was most definitely one of them. a few months ago, lily and i were playing around with the idea of the host club going to the united states and visiting an american public school. lily and i had pretty different schools and experiences so we decided to write it based off of our experiences. i also have different ideas and headcannons about the characters than her.

A note about public schools:

i also recognize that the public school i went to was in a very wealthy area. yeah, some areas of the school weren't amazing but it was definitely better off than some schools in my county. that being said, while there were wealthy students, there was also low income students and a good chunk of the middle class. these wealthy students didn't understand the struggles that the others had.

i could have also sent them to private school in the united states but whats the point? it would have been the same as the original ohshc but in the u.s.a. 

A little background info:

in this story, honey and mori are already freshmen at harvard university. i wanted to do a different school, but i realized at the end of the manga they all ended up in boston so i thought i would stay faithful to that. that's why i said five protagonists, instead of seven. i will mostly focus on the host clubs relationships with each other. and if i had to say who was really the only main character? probably kaoru. he seems to have good relationships with our main cast, so i think i will be featuring him the most. 

this story will take place in a wealthy suburb outside of washington d.c.

i would have made it take place in 2019 to 2020 but we all know how that ended up, so...yeah. 2020 trends but lets pretend its actually 2018/2019.

i also imagine the host club speaks japanese to each other, but english in front of everyone else.

An explanation of their schedules:

in the next chapters, you will see a prologue, their first semester school schedules, and a crazy amount of teachers names i had to think of. the prologue takes place in 2016, while the main story starts in september of 2018. and yes, before you ask, most of these teachers are based off of my own experiences in public school and my friend's teachers :). especially hikaru's english teacher--that was based off of my senior english teacher.

you're probably going to wonder why they also aren't enrolled in Japanese courses. wouldn't that be an easy a? first of all, with these over achievers there is no easy a. that's why they're taking all of these APs (all of which were offered at my high school, with german language and culture being an exception). since this school does not offer AP Japanese, but offers the biliteracy exam and the ap Japanese exam at the end of the year, they all opted to do those exams instead. kyoya and tamaki went ahead and took languages they were interested in learning more of/already know, german and french. haruhi, hikaru, and kaoru took advantage of their biliteracy certification and opted out of taking another language. kaoru did take two years of spanish, but dropped it.
