Elephant who?

Chapter 03

Today is one of those days were I don't dread going to school because Mya is going to be there. We text every day but sometimes the time difference isn't at our side, she has been in Morocco for two weeks and she still doesn't know about the events from last week.

The sessions at the gym have been leaving me tired but always happy and busy, also Daniel seems to surprise me every day because he threats me normal, he even laughs sometimes at my jokes and he makes fun of me if I act lazy, there is no awkwardness.

"Amber!" I hear when I'm grabbing my books from my locker at first period, I turned around to see Mya running towards me and the she hugs me "I'm so happy to see you!" she tells me "I'm happy too" I smile at her "Ready for class?" I asked her "Ugh don't remind me" she answers and I just laugh at her "Don't be a drama queen, at least you don't have to be here every day" I say as I start walking net to her to find our classrooms "Dude I know, how was stupid Megan to you this past weeks" I'm going to answer but Daniel is walking with his arm around Megan's shoulders whiles she's talking to her clones and he waves at me and I just froze when Megan lands eyes on me and then I wave back as they continue to make their way who knows were.

"DUDE" Mya just looks at me waiting for an explanation "I told you I have stuff to tell you" she's still surprised "I'll tell you everything at lunch" I assure her "WHY" I laugh at her reaction "Because we're are going to be late" I answer pushing her in the right direction "Fine" she says going to her classroom.

Mya is crazy, she just really tells you what's on her mind and it's not afraid, I admire her for being able to do that. We meet freshmen year when I was crying in the bathroom after my sister died, I was never good at making friends because every day I would be focusing on getting to the hospital and the anxiety of losing her made me eat unhealthy and I end up overweight and it has been like that ever since.

Mya found me that day and didn't ask questions, she hugged me and told me that it was okay to cry, we stayed there for like an hour until I calmed down and since that day we became really close and not even her traveling affected our friendship.

At lunch I filled her in with the details from the past week being interrupted a few times with her insulting Megan and me laughing at that and when I finished talking about my sessions of the gym she said "Well, I'm not letting you off the hook so easy, why did Daniel Tanner waved AND smile at you" he smiled? "Oh yeah, that, he's my trainer at Strong Gym" she opened her eyes really wide "Dude! Megan must be dying" Mya exclaimed "I don't know if she know but let's hope she doesn't find out".

"Oh! Before I forget" she said looking for something in her bag, she took out a bracelet and handed it to me "I got you this from the trip" I grabbed it and looked at it, it was some sort of twirl thing with vibrant colors "Thank you, is beautiful" I told her hugging her. She always gets me something from the places she visits even if she's already been there, I'm happy to know that even if she is busy she cares about me.

Today was resting day so I didn't have to go to the gym and I was grateful because my body was sore.

When I pulled in front of the house I saw the light of the kitchen on, bad sing. I entered the house and my supposition was correct, my mom was passed out on the counter with a lot of empty bottles of beer around her.

I called her boss and tried to make up an excuse but he said that if she did not show up he wouldn't pay her, we do need the money so I went to work instead of her. This wasn't the first time, sometimes he lets me go instead of her, once he told me "Only until you graduate, you are a good girl, but if you leave for college she'll be on her own" Because he knows our story.

My dad moved to another country for work, but I think he did it because he couldn't handle my sister dying, he divorced my mom and became distant from me. He send money into my account every month but I'm saving for college, not paying bills.

Amazing way to spend my day off.
