Chapter 05

Let's go lazyass Daniel texted me at exactly 1pm I'm coming dumbass I changed from coach to dumbass a few days ago when he couldn't set the treadmill and I did, he only needed to plug it in, so I told him that he lost his coach title.

I went down stairs and opened the front door to see his blue Hyundai Elantra parked in front of my house, we've been training for almost a month and this is the first time that I see his car.

I hoped in "Took you long enough" Daniel said "Dude it took me like one minute to get down here!" He laughed at me "Amber chill. I'm joking" I rolled my eyes "Then drive dumbass" he laughed but obeyed "So on our way there I'm going to ask you about your eating habits" I rolled my eyes again "I eat healthy" I responded "Stop rolling your eyes" How did he even notice, he's driving! "And no you don't" He continued "Then how is that" I said "I've seen you eat lunch at school, you should take your own from home" again noticing things "And why is that?" I asked looking at him "Because the food there has a lot of chemicals to keep it fresh but it's not good to your body" I didn't know that

He parked the car in front of the store "Did you bring the notebook?" he asked me, I nodded with my head. I still don't know why he made me bring a notebook but he's the one with the knowledge about this so I just did it.

He grabbed the shopping cart and pushed it inside "All right, so you want to start taking notes, here is where the fun begins" he said wagging his eyebrow, laughed at that "You're such a dork" I said opening my notebook.

He never asked the questions though, how does he know what we need to buy? "I know you only eat salads or sandwiches from the cafeteria, what's your breakfast?" How does he even know that  "Some coffee or orange juice" He was quiet apparently waiting for more "That's it" I said "You know what we are starting from the beginning" What? And then he stared talking and walking just grabbing stuff from the shelves and telling me when I should eat them and the function in my body.

"Could you slow down?" I asked stepping in front of him and the cart, he looked at me like he was coming out of a hypnotic trance "Amber I'm sorry, do you need me to repeat something?" I laughed "Maybe since you started walking" he looked so worried "I'm so sorry, I don't" I interrupted him "Daniel chill!! You're passionate about this stuff, it's ok, just go a little slower so I can write... and walk" He looked at the floor "Sorry" I smiled at him "Stop apologizing, let's continue"

Daniel talked the whole time we were inside but I didn't mind I just wanted to be able to write down as much as possible. He impressed me, he knew not only food, he knew about brands, he could say which one was healthier or more expensive, his eyes were lited up the whole time, they had a spark that I've never seem before and he smiled, he did not stop smiling, he enjoys this a lot. "So I think that's all" He told me and I looked at my notebook, I had written about snacks like protein bars, we also got some meat, I never eat meat but Daniel told me that I needed to ingest more protein, also got a lot of beans, some rice that looked brown and of course vegetables so I can prepare not only salads but he said he will give me recipes later "We are missing one thing" he looked confused.

I grabbed the cart and went to the aisle he avoided, and I know why, but I couldn't live without my Oreos, when he noticed were I was going he tried to stop me but started running and then I put my feet on the bar that connects the two rear tires leaving him behind. I did not take him long to catch up with me of course but since I was a kid I've loved to play with the cart, I know you shouldn't do that but I like it

"What was that you just did?" He asked me "Have you never done that before?" I asked "Sure... when I was like five" I raised my eyebrows "You can't be that boring" I said "I think I can be boring because you are not getting Oreos" Daniel said grabbing the package I put into the cart and putting them back on the shelve "I put them in the cart again "I said I was going to eat healthy, not abandon my sweets" He put them back in the shelve "They are not good for you" I grabbed them again "I'm just getting the Oreos, not this entire aisle Daniel!" he took them from me "You don't control yourself when you eat this" I grabbed another pack from the shelve "I'm paying for this anyways so I'm taking them" he grabbed the ones I had in my hands "Why are you being so stubborn about this!" I pushed the cart letting out my anger "Why are you taking away my tradition!"

He stopped the cart before I hit a lady that was a few meters away from us, everyone in the aisle were quiet. He came back with the cart and then hugged me, I didn't even noticed that I started crying. People started moving a little while I kept crying. Daniel rubbed my back trying to calm me down. "Let's do something" he said making me look at him while he wiped some tears from my face "I'll keep the Oreos and you can eat a pack once a week. You feel good with that?" I nodded with my head "I'm sorry I snapped at you" I said "It's ok, I'm sorry I didn't understood, this is important for you"

We were in silence the whole time since we paid for the food and got all the bags into his trunk, I was handing him the last bag when he broke the silence "Do you want to get some lunch? My treat" I looked at him for the first time since my outburst in the store "Thanks dumbass" he laughed

We went to a restaurant Daniel knows, and apparently the staff in there knows him too. The place looked really modern, it had a really tall ceiling with yellow bulbs hanging from it, the tables were made of glass and the chairs where made of white leather, the walls had some sort of dark wood design for decoration.

We sat next to a really big window from where you could see a really pretty garden, I let Daniel order for me because he's been here before and because I was just getting started on the eating healthy stuff.

"You like the place?" Daniel asked me when he noticed me staring at the garden "Yes, it's beautiful" I answered "I'll let my mom know" he said with a smile "Your mom owns this place" he nodded taking a sip from his water "Are you trying to impress me?" I asked teasing him, he laughed at that "I think you are impressed since day one at the gym" he answered smirking at me

"You wish dumbass. So I guess this is why you know so much about food?" I asked "I guess so. I mean my mom's a chef you know that" Yes, I didn't know she apparently owns a few restaurants "But since my dad's brother died from morbid obesity the three of us changed in so many ways, my mom's specialty is food, mine is training people and my dad started a foundation" Well, now I'm impressed but I was not going to tell him that

"That's why you quitted the football team?" Daniel was a receiver for our school football but in the middle of the season his sophomore year and a lot of people were disappointed, they said he could had a bright future "Yes, their habits are awful, partying all the time, eating junk, I stopped liking that when my uncle died, I wanted to help people so I made an application for Strong Gym and they helped me to go through a whole process"

"Impressive" I said "So you are impressed" he told me smiling "I'll be impressed when you do one thing" he raised his eyebrows "You go get one of the children menus and color it with me, he laughed at me but obeyed and then we colored until the food arrived with him making fun of me for being so childish.
