I walked swiftly down the long corridors of the manor, making my way into the common room to meet up with Lana. My footsteps were soft enough to make sure not to wake anyone. We were discussing the movie night, the evening of our first escape attempt.

I jumped in surprise when I felt a hand touch my shoulder. I whipped my head to the side and saw Luke, a patient who had the reputation of being insane. Just like me. All though he was handsome and all, he gave me the chills.

"Hey there, Hope," he said with a small grin.

"Hi," I replied and stepped to the side in order to pass him, but he blocked my way.

"Could you step to the side, please? I need to get to the common room," I said to him.

"Not so fast there, Prescott," Luke said, grabbing onto my arm and pulling me back towards him. I let out a small yelp when he pushed me roughly at the wall.

"Luke-- " I pressed my hands against his chest in an attempt to push him back but I was much too weak compared to him. My eyes grew wide as I began to grow in fear, adrenaline coursing through my veins.

"Stop," I demanded in a stern voice, looking up at him as his figure towered over me.

"I don't think so," Luke said, his hand slipping underneath my shirt.

"Luke!" I let out a shudder of disgust and horror, tears beginning to sprout from my eyes. "Please stop."

"I can do whatever I want, and there's nothing you can do about it!" He shouted in my face, pressing his hands harder on me. I forced my eyes shut and prayed for someone who finds me soon. I felt like I was about to throw up.

Suddenly, I felt Luke being pulled away from me. My eyes fluttered open to see Kit. He grabbed Luke by the collar and latched his hand onto the back of his head, slamming it against the wall. Kit then threw him down to the ground.

"Touch her again and I'll kill you," Kit growled, turning to approach me. "Hope, are you okay? Did he hurt you?"

Instead of replying, I just wrapped my arms around him in a hug. I couldn't have been happier to see him. He wrapped his strong arms around my shoulders and rested his head on top of mine. I nuzzled my face into the fabric of his shirt and whimpered.

"Shhh, it's okay. You're okay, Hope. He's gone," he whispered into my hair and rubbed my back soothingly. I whimpered and pulled back as I dried my tears.

"Thank you," I replied with a shaky breath.

"Of course, anytime," Kit replied in a soft voice. Even though my sobs stopped, we stood there in an embrace that was too comforting to separate from.

When it was time for the big storm, Sister Jude and the nuns had gathered everyone up in the common room to supposedly calm us down for movie night. Lana, Kit, Grace, and I sat right next to each other. As the movie started, bolts of lightning crashed and the rain began to pound onto the windows.

Kit, who wore his common blue jacket, managed to take my hand loosely in his without being caught by the guards. I squeezed his hand gently and looked over at Lana and Grace. I then gave the two girls their cues. They walked up to sister Jude and asked politely to head to the bathroom. And of course, Sister Jude had a guard accompany them. No doubt that.

After about fifteen minutes, Kit and I did the same thing Lana and Grace previously had done. We hurried down the corridor in a light jog after Kit knocked out the guard that was escorting us. We met up with Grace and Lana at our meeting place. They were waiting for us by the bathrooms.

"Ready?" Grace asked us.

I nodded, and Kit took my hand in his as he gave it a light squeeze. We began our way, running down the hallways. Luckily, there were no guards in sight so far. We continued our way, Kit behind me. Lana and Grace ran down another route, while Kit told them he would stay with me. I could have sworn I saw Dr. Arden from the corner of my eye one time, but I couldn't be sure. So I continued to run, no matter what.

We made it. Almost. Until we were stopped by two guards.
