Bishop Mendoza was so excited that he couldn't keep still.

Finally, he had the Holy Stone in his possession.

From his office in the cathedral, he examined the holy relic. The fading sun highlighted the red traces on the stone.

Now, he could make a wish and see if it came true.

Gripping the stone in his palm, he closed his eyes and made a wish.

I wish for one million gold coins, he thought.

He opened his eyes.

Nothing happened.

He closed his eyes and made the same wish again.

He opened his eyes.

Still nothing happened.

He frowned. Maybe there was nothing special behind this rock.

But just then, he felt something burning his hands.

It started off as a light tingling sensation, but soon, it spread to the rest of his body.

He yelped.

It felt like his whole body was on fire.

The pain hurt so bad that he had to drop the stone onto the floor.

His eyes wide, he was beginning to realize that perhaps not only was the stone useless, but also cursed. He thought he had seen this kind of stone before. Some joke shop sold it.

He knew it. There was nothing easy in life. One million gold coins wasn't going to drop onto his lap just because he wished for it. He'd have to pay for his retirement some other way.

He wanted to get rid of it. Maybe he could just chuck it out the window.

At that point, Deacon Saryan rushed into the room. "Your Grace, Duchess Elizabeth is here! She demands possession of the Holy Stone."

The bishop immediately picked up the stone and dropped it into the deacon's hand. "Here! Give it to her!"

The bishop giggled to himself.

He had been willing to torture and even kill for the fake Holy Stone.

He hoped that the real one was out there somewhere.
