Max had been thinking about a particular memory about Jessica. It was after he had banished Princess Sanchia and her meddlesome mother from the Imperial Capital and he had gone to Celio to whisk Jessica away to his Imperial Palace.

As soon as he stepped into the room, he began to relive the memory clearly and in its entirety.

It was like he was an actor in a real-life movie.

He saw Jessica's beautiful face in detail as the sun shone on it: her kind eyes, her pretty little mouth, her long silky hair.

She was watering her plants high in the sky, in front of her little cottage.

She dropped the watering can and hurried toward him.

He held out his arms and caught her.

"It's all over now," he murmured into her ear. "I got an annulment from my engagement to Princess Sanchia."

"Thank the Gods," Jessica breathed out, her hot breath caressing his chest.

"This means we can be together," said Max.

She placed her head on his shoulder and for a while, both were silent.

And then, as though slow-dancing to some silent melody, the two of them began to sway back and forth.

Max enjoyed holding her in his arms.

It felt so right.

It felt like this was where he was meant to be, and nowhere else.

And for a while, Max revelled in that dance.

He felt the warmth of Jessica' graceful body on his skin.

He smelled the wonderful strawberry scent of her perfume.

Even though it was just a memory, he didn't care, because all his fears and worries had momentarily evaporated, banished away as he buried himself in the comforting presence of his girl while they swayed to beautiful silent music.
