I wake up screaming terrified. Ferny wakes up and tries to hold me down. "Hey it's okay it's just a nightmare" he says while hugging me and kissing my forehead. "I get them too" he continues. I can feel my heart pounding, my blood flowing, and my body shaking. Ferny tucks me back into bed. I close my eyes. "my nightmares are usually about loosing you, it's okay once I realize you're here." Ferny whispers. I dont know if I was meant to hear this but I did. I sit up, look at Ferny and give him a kiss. I stay there laying down, in his arms until I eventually fall asleep.
I wake up to the sound of birds chirping. I turn over but I don't see Ferny. I panic. I get up, wash my face, brush my teeth, change into decent clothes and go to the kitchen. There I find Ferny, talking to his stylist. Before I'm even able to talk to Ferny, my prep team pulls me to a room. "Today is training day, you'll spend 6 hours training, and then you'll have your private session with the game makers, then your scores will be televised. Remember it is important to try to get a high score because it leads to sponsors." My stylist, Roderick announces. I nod. The prep team hands me my training outfit. Grey leggings with a black stripe on each side. A grey slick shirt. With the same black lines, except on my shoulders it has my state number. Black combat boots and my braid. It's comfy I guess. I notice there's no make up today, just the basics. We head outside and I go with Ferny who's wearing an outfit exactly like mine, but in a guy version. We hold hands and head off.
When we get there, we see the other tributes already started training. I decide to walk around and check all these tribute's skill out. I see Brooklyn, the girl from state 1, Washington, D.C. throwing about 20 knifes in less than 15 seconds and she doesn't miss one target, on the wall. Chills run through my spine. The girl from state 4, Trinnidy, practicing attacks with her trident. She never misses. Both tributes from state 12, Seraphine and Cato, are running and throwing knifes. Even though they are running incredibly fast, they make each bulls eyes. I catch Seraphine looking at me while she throws a knife, she makes her target and gives a sarcastic smirk. I'm done with seeing tributes I got to go train. I go to the shooting area. I grab a bow and a few arrows and close the vault in which in a few minutes is going to be filled with computerized people coming at me, and I have to shoot them all. I click start and the countdown begins. 3. 2. 1. I wait for something to happen. Nothing. Then I hear it. To my top left. I grab an arrow and shoot. Right in the head. Then to my bottom right, I shoot and hit the graphic's eye. I repeat this process for about 20 more graphics. Then my last one comes, I decide to aim higher. I quickly grab an arrow. Aim and shoot. The arrow goes right into the graphics neck.
I get out the vault. The girl from 12, had been looking at me shoot. Just to get her mad, I give her the same sarcastic smirk she gave me earlier.
I see Ferny lifting a 200 pound metal ball and throwing it at least 50 feet across the room. Impressive if you ask me. Me and Ferny decide to go train in the survival skills section. In here we learned how to start a fire, how to cook raw animals, how to help stop an infection, how to climb trees, how to tell which plants are eatable and which ones are poisonous, and how to find water, shelter, and food. This will probably be more useful then knowing how to hunt.
"Attention tributes, start getting in order and sit in the waiting room while the game makers call you for your private session." some guy announces. Me and Ferny go last to be seated, since we're state 16. We sit there in silence, just waiting for our names to get called. "Iri, how are gonna kill these people?" Ferny whispers, interrupting the silence. I give him a worried look because I honestly don't know how in the world were gonna kill 30 skilled tributes.
