I do not like high school parties. The four of us walked in and the smell of beer and weed hit me like a wall. " Are you kidding me? It's not even nine and people are already drunk and hung over each other." I say disgusted.
"Lighten up Jay it's a Friday night let teenagers be teenagers. You ought to have some of their fun." Grayson says it like it's a rule I have to follow.
"I'd rather have one drink and just dance like a normal person then be piss drunk and grind up against a guy for 15 minutes then have him bring me up stairs and have the worst sex because I'm drunk. No thanks." I say back.
"Geez way to be morbid." Says Lauren from my side.
"Sorry I just don't want some douche bag getting all up on me because he's drunk." I state which is the truth.
" Well I'ii make you a deal," says Grayson. "If you end up piss drunk and are grinding up against a guy I promise you I'll stop you and be your bodyguard for the rest of the night." he finishes but I just give him a weird look cause it looks like he actually cares which is weird cause he never does. I look over at him and say something completely unexpected. "Deal." Then I realize Maggie looking at us like "What the fuck is going on" so I have to say something to cover whatever just happened.
" I mean that's not gonna happen because I am not getting drunk tonight but if it does I know who to call." I say, trying to cover it up.I immediately grab Lauren by the arm and walk away before anything more could happen.
"What was that about?" She asks. But honestly I have no idea myself so I just reply with an, "I have no idea." I grab a beer off the counter and walk away before she could ask anymore questions.
An hour into this party and I want to leave. Everyone is ether drunk and dancing like strippers or are making out with random strangers. I see Maggie and Lauren dancing but I have no idea where Grayson is...that is until he's right at my side.
"What the fuck are you trying to do? Give me a heart attack?" I say my heart is pumping.
"Nah,who'd I have to argue with?" He says with a laugh in his tone.
"Fair enough." I say surprising laughing. "So what do you want?" I ask.
"Wow Jay, you just assume I want something. I love how you think so highly of me." He says and I can't make out the tone of his voice.
"Well what am I supposed to think when all we do is fight every time we talk to each other?" I say with some edge to my voice but I can't help it.
"You're right I'm sorry but I do need help with something." He says which has me worried.
"With?" I have no idea where this is going.
"My European History essay. Davis will let me redo it but I'm clueless.I know it was your best class last semester and I was wondering if you'd help me,with graduation coming up I can't be getting bad grades. Please Jamie I need you." He says it while looking straight into my eyes. I feel bad,I don't want him to fail but we don't do this anymore,we haven't for so long.
" I guess I could help you a little. You could come over tomorrow afternoon. Brett just came back so he'll want to see you." I say unexpectedly.
"Wait Brett's back? I didn't even know. I can be there around one if that works for you guys?" He says.
"Yeah,that works." I say a little too excitedly .
"Okay great. Oh and Jay."He says while about to walk away.
"Yeah?" I say turning around
"I owe you big time." He finally says and turns to walk away. Oh Gray spending time with my best friend again is enough payment as I need.
