Of course Brett had to come in and make things more weird than I already did. I should never have agreed to do this. I knew what would happen. This is exactly the reason I try to argue and piss him off so much. If he acts like he did when we were kids it'll be harder to push my feelings down. I can't do that to Mags even if they are having a hard time right now. I can't do that.
"So are we going to get this essay done or what?" I say trying to move on from Brett and what I said.
"Yeah definitely," Gray says, obviously trying to forget what just happened just as much as I am.
"Give me the introduction you were rewriting just now." I say as he finishes up writing the last sentence. He hands it to me and as I look it over it's great.
"Gray why didn't you do this the first time you wrote it this is really really good." I say trying to at least make him smile. I do,which makes me smile.
"Thanks Jay, it's just been really hard to focus lately with all the Maggie stuff and my parents on me about grades and graduation." He says and I can hear the exhaustion in his voice. Just then my mom walks in.
"Oh Grayson you're still here good, I came up to see if you would like to stay for dinner?" Mom asks as if he could ever say no to her. Even then he still looks at me for permission.
"It's pasta night your favorite," I say because even though I don't know where this will go, I'm curious to see where it will.
