Pigeon rescue

It is a hot afternoon in Seoul. Keonhee is walking home after a long hunt for birthday presents. Four of his five best friends have their birthdays soon so he went shopping for presents.
He walks over a bridge in the open sun. "I just want to get home and take a shower. Why must it be so hot?", he thinks to himself. Then he sees a flock of pigeons in front of him. Keonhee panicks. "I hate pigeons. What do I do now?" He looks around to see if he can change the side of the street somewhere but the streets are very busy and there is no traffic light anywhere. Some people walk past the pigeons but they don't seem bothered by them.
Keonhee comes to the conclusion that there is no way to avoid them. He has to overcome his fear and walk past them. He slowly walks towards them. All of a sudden a bunch of kids on bicycles drive past him in a rapid speed. He screams in surprise but also the pigeons get scared and fly away except for one. It coos very loudly and flaps with one wing. Keonhee carefully gets closer to it. One of the pigeons wings is bent in an awkward angle and has blood and bicycle skidmarks on it. One of the kids must have run over it with his bike. "Should I help it? But what if it bites me?", Keonhee asks himself. Keonhee decides to let it be. Someone else will see it and take care of it. Or not? Keonhee walks a few steps forward but then he stops. "But what if no one helps it? People are selfish."
He googles the next vet clinic then runs back to the pigeon and picks it up. "I promise that I will make you fly again.", he says to the pigeon and walks into the direction of the next vet clinic.
After a half hour of walking he finally reached the vet. He pushes the door open and walks towards the reception. "Hello how can I help you?", the receptionist asks. "Hello, this pigeon got run over by a bike. One of the wings is broken.", Keonhee explains. "Is this your pigeon?" "No, it is from the street. Please it needs help." "Sorry but we don't treat dirty wild animals. Now get that disgusting thing out of here."
Keonhee leaves the vet clinic feeling really angry. "So unfriendly. Don't worry Pigi, we'll get you treated somewhere. You don't mind the name Pigi, do you?", he says to the pigeon. It looks at him with big eyes and coos. "I'll interpret that as a no."
Keonhee walks home. Inside the apartment he sets Pigi down on his bed and throws his bags aside. In the living room he finds a note from his best friends and housemates that says that they are grocery shopping. Keonhee gets himself a glass of water and fills a bowl with water for Pigi.
Pigi drinks like he hasn't seen water in several days. Meanwhile Keonhee tries to find a vet who will treat him.

After fifteen minutes Keonhees best friends are back from grocery shopping. "Hey, we are back.", Youngjo says and hugs Keonhee from behind. "Ahh, why is there a pigeon on your bed?", Hwanwoong asks.
"It got hurt. I am trying to find a vet right now but all of the ones that called until now, said they don't treat pigeons from the street."
"Have you tried calling a vet that is more specialized on exotic pets or wild living birds? Maybe they would be more willing to help a pigeon?", Geonhak asks. "I'll try that."
Keonhee spends a few more hours to try and find someone who will help Pigi but without any success.
"Pigi, I wasn't able to find someone who can help you today. It's getting late now. I will try again tomorrow.", Keonhee says to the bird and put him on pillow on the sofa before he goes to bed.

The next day Pigis condition seems to be much worse than before. The little bird is lying limp on the pillow, barely breathing. “Pigi looks really bad. He might die. What should I do?“, he says panicked. “My parents neighbour loves birds. Maybe she can help?“, Dongju says.
He calls his parents and explains the situation, they give telephone to the neighbour and she tells them that theres a bird doctor in a village outside of Seoul. “I need to take the train then but I need to get a cage or something like that to carry Pigi.“, Keonhee states. “Doesn't the neighbour have a cat? Maybe he has something like that.“, Ravn suggests. The neighbour borrows Keonhee his cat transport box and he and Pigi sally forth to the doctor. “This box is not ideal but better than nothing. I hope I make it to the doctor in time.“, Keonhee thinks.
They reach the small clinic after an hour. Keonhee runs towards the reception. “Hello, I found this pigeon yesterday. It got run over by a bike and I think it's dying.“, he says to the receptionist “Calm down sir. I will contact the doctor. He should be there in a few seconds. You can go to room over there and wait.“, the receptionist says.
Keonhee goes into the room and puts the box with Pigi in it on the examination table and opens it. Then doctor comes. They greet and Keonhee briefly explaines what happened then the doctor looks at Pigi. “He has lost a lot of blood and needs surgery on the wing but I think he will be able to heal fully.“, the doctor says after examining the pigeon. Keonhee is relieved to hear that.
A few weeks later Keonhee is able to take Pigi back home and a few more weeks later he is fully healed. Then it's time to let Pigi fly back to his flock again. “Goodbye Pigi. I hope you'll come and visit me.“, Keonhee says with a tear in his eye. Pigi coos in response, then flies away.
Sometimes he still visits Keonhee when his window is open.
