/ sorry for the lack of updates recently, there has been a lot going on and even though i love writing i really cant waste all my energy on this story when i truly don't have it to spare. im trying to get more active, but with school starting next week i really cant promise anything, but i can almost guarantee that ill be done with this story in a month of two! thanks for sticking with me :)

in the last chapter i gave the girls a lot to deal with, so this time im trying to be nicer on them cause i think we all love lesbians being happy and yk,,, fucking \

By the time that the ringing in Gigi's ear had stopped, her landlord was already gone and Crystal was leaning on the doorway waiting for an update.

Gigi's hand is shaking with the paper still in her hand, feeling a cold sweat building up and shivers going down her back. She wants to cry. Scream. Storm out. She wants to leave this entire situation, but she has to be fucking mature and strong for Crystal.

"What is it?" Crystal asks, breaking the awkward silence and making Gigi turn around.

"Rent's being raised" Gigi didn't miss a beat with that answer. Her monotone voice made it sound even colder, leaving Crystal speechless for a second.

"By how much?" Crystal starts making her way towards Gigi with slow steps. As she reaches the other girl, she lifts Gigi's hand and starts inspecting the paper.

Crystal knows that it's a dumb question. Even the slightest raise would mean that they're absolutely fucked, and they both understand that. There's no more shit to sell, they're only buying the necessities at this point and the good tippers will be gone for the entirety of the summer. To this point they've tried their hardest to make it all work, which has been a struggle to say the least. It's not fucking easy being poor with the need for a new adventure every single night.

Crystal immediately skips all the pointless stuff at the beginning and searches for numbers. Her eyes widen as she picks up the new rent, and she can just tell that her emotions aren't that different from Gigis anymore.

"That's..." Crystal feels her voice break halfway through that single word.

"Yeah. It almost fucking doubled"

They lock eyes, with Gigi trying to keep her cool and Crystal's eyes slightly watering.

"How are we supposed to even afford that?" Crystal exlaims in a bothered voice. She's absolutely terrified, and she knows that Gigi is too.

Gigi only shrugs her shoulders, letting her arms drop to her side. If Gigi knew that Crystal could handle the truth said out loud, she would most definitely already be going off about all the reasons they're fucked. The rent is going through the roof right now, their job is shit and the paychecks are worse, and they're literally falling in love. This wasn't apart of their Paris fantasy, so how could they ever even get prepared? They never made up a plan B in case they went completely broke and possibly homeless.

"Oh God..." Crystal's not going to cry. She wants to believe that she has that amount of control left. She won't let herself break down in front of Gigi. She turns around, leaving Gigi to face her back. If even the slightest tears come up, the least she can do is not let her see it.

Gigi takes a deep breath and places the damned piece of paper on the shoe shelf next to her. She is trying everything to keep herself together. Absolutely everything. Crystal doesn't want to be that vulnerable in front of her anymore, and so doesn't Gigi. She needs to be the bigger, stronger person.

"Crystal..." Gigi mumbles, stepping forward towards Crystal. She sets her hand on her shoulder, moves a strand of hair from her face with her other one and gets as close as she can to her ear. "Remember what you said earlier?"
