09|A Terwen a Day Keeps The Medic Away

The small group, plus Ego and his assistant Mantis, sat around a makeshift campfire. Louisa sat on a log, her hands holding a stick over the warm flames. A small Terwen had been pierced by Louisa's stick and slowly cooked above the fire. Louisa didn't want to admit it, but she had in fact copied Ethan's actions. Louisa guessed it was an Earth tradition because her dad was also cooking a Terwen above the fire.

Louisa tugged the bordeaux insect like creature from her stick and took a small device from one of her pouches. She dropped the device on her plate, allowing it to effortlessly prepare the Terwen for eating. Ego meanwhile spoke up, telling the story as to why he hadn't raised his son.

"I hired Yondu to pick you up when your mother passed away. But instead of returning you, Yondu kept you. I have no clue as to why." Ego claimed, looking at his son while the rest of the Guardians swapped mixed expressions. Mantis meanwhile, seemed to look around with a smile that had to hurt her cheeks. Even not smiling Ethan felt his cheeks cramp, just by looking at the pale woman, who's big dark eyes seemed to be smiling as well.

"Well, I'll tell you why. Because I was a skinny little kid who could squeeze into places adults couldn't. It made it easier for thievin'." Peter shrugged, turning his attention back to his food. Gamora looked at him wistfully, before her eyes flickered to look at Ego. She wasn't sure what Ego's true intentions were, and she didn't like it "Well, I've been trying to track you down ever since."

"I thought Yondu was your father." Drax commented nonchalantly shrugging his shoulders as he stared into the flickering flames "What? We've been together this whole time... and you thought Yondu was my actual blood relative?" Peter asked flabbergasted. For one thing, Yondu had very prominent blue skin, Peter looked like if one left him outside for 10 minutes in summer, he'd come back with third degree burns.

"You look exactly alike." Drax argued "One's blue!" Rocket snapped, slamming a paw against his forehead "Blue skin is a dominant trait. He is about as white as they come." Louisa added, slowly munching on the Terwen "No, he's not my father! Yondu was the guy who abducted me, kicked the crap out of me so I could learn to fight, and kept me in terror by threatening to eat me." Peter snapped, done with Drax claiming Yondu was the eldest Quill's father "Eat you?" Ego asked, an urgent tone in his voice.

"Yeah." Peter answered. Ego's face contorted as if he had just eaten something very sower "Oh, that son of a bitch." He exclaimed "How'd you locate us now?" Gamora asked, needless to say she was suspicious of the elderly man.

"Well, even where I reside, out past the edge of what's known... we've heard tell about the man they call Star-Lord. What say we head out there right now?" Ego for some reason completely ignored Louisa as he said that, despite the girl being his granddaughter. "Your associates are welcome. Even that triangle-faced monkey there. I promise you... it's unlike any other place you've ever seen. And there... I can explain your very special heritage. Finally get to be... the father I've always wanted to be. Excuse me. I've gotta take a whiz." Ego finished talking and rose to his feet walking away.
