-Chapter 3-

"Go Tell Nurse Rhody."

Harmway Hills Sanatorium, Harmway Hills, Ireland.

30km from Dublin, Ireland.

October 31st, 1998.

Wrynrie awoke and slowly got to her feet as the room was spinning; she felt nauseous as she wabbled for a moment, catching herself on the visitor's desk while holding her head. The atmosphere around her felt damped and stale, outside she could hear faint sounds of a thunderstorm as she gathered herself. "Hello?" She called out but there was no answer just more eerie silence followed by faint sounds of static like that from a television set coming from somewhere down the hall. She sighed before standing straight and beginning to walk down the hall before stopping and checking for her sidearm; with a sigh of relief she unholstered her weapon and checked the chamber by lightly pulling back the slide, satisfied with a round in the chamber she released the magazine and smiled to herself. She slid the magazine back into the handgun and holstered before noticing that she had four extra filled magazine of .45ACP on her duty belt. She shook her head before carrying on towards the noise down the corridor.

As she walked with caution she kept noticing medium sized heavy white doors with small windows on either side of her. She stopped to check one before a hand touched her shoulder, she jumped and spun around to see a nurse staring at her. "Ma'am?" She asked plainly. "I'm.. I'm so sorry you scared you. I called out by no one answered." Wrynrie replied with a sigh. The nurse eyed her for several moment before speaking. "My name is nurse Rhody, and you are?" Wrynrie stood up straighter and extended her hand. "Hi, I'm Detective Wrynrie Wake, from Dublin." The nurse slowly reached out and shook her hand before sharply pulling her hand back. Wrynrie looked a bit taken aback but dismissed this odd behavior. "Are you here to see Dr. Curry?" The nurse asked. "Uhm.. Yes, actually." She replied with a lie. "Right this way." The turn turned and headed back in the direction of the visitor's desk and Wrynrie followed. "So..." Wrynrie began. "How long have you worked here?" The nurse groaned underneath her breath. "Seven years this November." The nurse replied. "What kind of patients do you get here?" Again the nurse groaned under her breath. "Mostly the criminally insane. Sometimes we get some pretty weird cases, though. We have a patient that believes she's a doctor of psychology. She's had such good behavior that Dr. Curry let's her assist with the other patients; surprisingly she seems to know quite a bit about the subject." The nurse stopped and turned to Wrynrie. "What business are you here on again?" She asked. "Uhm, oh, it's a missing persons case." Again, a lie but it was only a half lie. The nurse eyed her before knocking on the door she stopped at.

The golden plate on the door read Dr. Timothy Curry. There was silence before a muffled voice spoke from the otherside of the door. "Come in." The nurse opened the door and stepped inside, Wrynrie followed behind her and closed the door before standing at parade rest; setting eyes on the man behind the desk. "This is Detective Wake, from Dublin, sir. She's here about a missing person's case." The nurse said. "Excellent!" He said gleefully before standing up and walking around the desk to shake her hand. "Nice to meet you, Ms. Wake. I am Doctor Timothy J. Curry." He said with a jester-like smile. Wrynrie raised an eyebrow at how charismatic he was. "Nice to meet you, sir." She replied in an official tone. "Nurse, that'd be all. Be a dear and fetch Dr. Jackson, please?" Wrynrie caught the nurse's expression out of the corner of her eye as she left. "Please, sit." He said as he sat back down at his desk. "Normally we do not allow firearms inside the hospital but since you are a police officer I'll let go." She sat down with a sigh. The chair was oddly comfortable. "I suppose we can start with your questions." He said as he poured a pit of Brandy into a glass before motioning to her if she wanted any. "No thank you." She said, he smiled and shrugged. "I'm here on a case from Dublin, missing person's. A little girl by the name of Sofia Johannes. She's around eight or nine years old, black hair. German." Dr. Curry stared at her for a moment before speaking, still, he had that smile on him. It unnerved her. "We have a little girl that matches that description, yes. But she's not missing, deary. Her parents were killed in a violent car accident." Wrynrie raised an eyebrow. "Car accident? The case file said murdered." Dr. Curry almost lost his smile. "Yes.. Uh, it was a murder. Vehicular Manslaughter, my apologies. It's been a long night." Wrynrie studied him for a moment, making a mental note. "Yes, well, it sure has, Dr." She replied, thinking back to how she got here in the first place. Just then the door opened and the nurse walked in followed by a woman wearing a lab coat. "Aah, yes. Detective, I'd like you to meet one of me Doctors here, Dr. Jackson." Wrynrie stood up and turned to greet the doctor before falling silent. 'M-mum...' She thought as she laid eyes on her mother, Kayleigh. "Nice to meet you, Detective-?" Wrynrie snapped too. "Wake. Detective Wake, Dr. Nice to meet you..." All she wanted to do was hug her, tell her she loved and missed her but she wouldn't know who she was. "Dr. Jackson will be showing you around the hospital." Dr. Curry said as the nurse left. "Dr. Jackson, would you mind waiting outside?" He asked, the woman nodded and looked at Wrynrie. "I'm be just outside waiting for you, deary."

Dr. Curry sat back down at his desk as Wrynrie sat back down. "Let me explain." He began. "Kayleigh Marie Jackson came to us two years ago with many delusions of granger, including the belief that she is a doctor of psychology. Her boyfriend was rather abusive towards her and caused her quite a bit of brain damage. Upon her treatment I had realized that she did in fact have an extensive knowledge of the mentally unstable so I gave her a lab coat and allowed her to accompany me on me rounds of the Institution. She has proven to be quite, say, an expert." Wrynrie sighed. "When can I see Ms. Johannes?" She asked, he shifted in his seat. "Go on the tour with Dr. Jackson while I set up a meet." He stood up and walked her to the door. "You may find me at the visitor's desk once you're done." She left the room and set eyes on her mother who was resting her back against the opposite wall. "Detective. Are we ready?" She said with that melodic voice of her's that Wrynrie missed dearly. "Yes. Uh. Lead on." She replied and followed her down the corridor. The walk was quite before she broke the silence. "So, Detective, do you have any kids?" Wrynrie stammered a bit before she replied. "No.. No I uh, I don't. You?" She asked. Dr. Jackson stopped and rubbed her belly, Wrynrie finally noticed that she was indeed pregnant and then it hit her as the words came out of the Dr.'s mouth. "Any day now... It's a girl." Wrynrie stared at her mother before staring at the floor.
