Previously...

It was the image of Aesop's face in my mind that made me drifted off to sleep, a small smile playing on the corner of my lips.

Fast forward a few months...

Aesop's POV

My face was pressed against his leg, and he was rubbing my face comfortably. I yawned and stretched, caught off guard as Joseph leaned down and pressed his lips to mine, trapping me in a deep, affectionate kiss.

"Good morning dear, did you have a good sleep?"

Joseph continues to stroke my hair.

"Very well." I grinned up at him.

This wasn't the first sleepover I had in his room. I slept over for about three times now, waking up to his touches and kisses. It was heaven.

I tried to bring Joseph into my room, but the space was too cramped and Eli scared us half to death knocking on my door at half-past three in the morning asking if I had a spare clock. He later told us that he had a problem with sleep-walking and sleep-talking. We laugh about that now.

Joseph and the other hunters were much more reserved, preferring to keep to themselves, unlike the survivors. I kind of like that.

"Aw crap, I have to get back soon. There's a match in about an hour."

I squinted at my watch, trying to blink the sleep out of my eyes.

The Photographer sighed.

"Be safe. I don't want you hurting yourself."

In rare matches in which I was paired with Joseph, we spend most of the matches playing cat and mouse, giggling. He would never hurt me and would leave me immediately if another survivor was in sight. We agreed that this plan was the most bulletproofed, as Joseph needed to get his winning streak up, and not to be suspected by the other hunters.

Joseph kissed me goodbye before I left his room, sneaking back into the survivor's manor.

"Aesop, where were you? The match is about to start!"

Emily showed up out of nowhere, looking disapproved as I was almost late for my match.

"Sorry, um...I got caught up with something."

"Well, come on, hurry along. Just don't be late next time."

Emily sighed.

I took my usual seat at the table, examining the piece of paper that showed me who my teammates were.

Emily- Doctor

Vera- Perfumer

Aesop- Embalmer

Emma- Gardener

Whew, not bad.

As my eyes slowly adjusted to the sudden changes, I recognized the map as the Red Church. It was my favorite map because I felt like it was the easiest. I smirked, before heading to the nearest cipher to start decoding.

Fast forward the match...

I walked with the other survivors to our manor, when I saw a gleaming golden ribbon flowing at the corner of the manor. The only person I have ever seen that had the bow was...

"You guys go ahead, I uh...left something."

"Oh, maybe one of us should go with you? You never know what could happen..."

Emma began, looking concerned.

"And your wounds should be treated too, so they don't get infected."

Emily looked at a small cut at the bottom of my eye.

"No, no...I promise I'll be right there."

Vera stood at the entrance of the manor, clicking her tongue impatiently.

"Whatever, if he wants to stay, just let him! Let's go Emily, Emma."

She then dragged the two of them away.

I have never been this thankful for Vera.

I hurried my way to Joseph, who was peeking out from the corner, checking that they were alone. I fell into his arms, smiling.

"What are you doing here?"

"To surprise you. And I got bored." Joseph shrugged, giving me a big hug.

I winced as he brushed past a bruise on my chest.

Joseph frowned, as he lifted my shirt to check my wound.

"I thought I told you to be careful?"

"Haha yeah...Mary was chasing me and I tripped on a rock."

"You should get it checked out right away, don't make me worry."

Joseph checked the rest of my body for injuries but found none. He kissed me slowly then pushed me away. I wined and he laughed.

"Go inside. I'll see you again tonight."

"Ten o'clock?"

"Yup, now go."

I pressed my lips to him again. He laughed again and pretended to swat me away.

"Stop stalling! I'll see you tonight."

I grinned and waved at him before turning around and walked into the manor.

Vera's POV

Just as I suspected, he's up to something.

After I successfully drove Emma and Emily away, I sneaked back outside and saw Aesop, and a HUNTER together. I only heard fragments of their conversation, but I heard enough to understand that they were TOGETHER. A hunter and a survivor? Just nonsense.

I was especially grossed out when they kissed. It looked like he was eating his face!

I mimicked throwing up, and an evil grin spread on my face. I never liked Aesop, he is so strange! He literally hangs out more with dead bodies than real human beings. I also had to get him back for being EXTREMELY rude to me those past matches.

I sneaked back and waited for Aesop to appear in the entrance hall. When he did, he was surprised to see me.

"Vera? W-What are you doing here?"

He seemed nervous, probably wondering if I had seen him moments before.

"I saw you with that hunter."

I began coldly, deciding to be honest.

His face changed color faster than a traffic light, finally stopping at a pale, sickly milky white color. It was quite funny to watch.

"I won't tell anyone if you break up with him," I smirked.

"But what does it have to do with you?!" Aesop looked upset.

"I just find it entertaining to watch you suffer." I smiled sweetly at him.

It looked for a moment that he was going to punch me.

"Behave yourself, dear Aesop. Or I might just slip a word to Jack."

I turned and knew that he was watching me.

About time he showed some respect for the Perfumer.
