Chapter 12

~Paris '

A Vietnamese general, General Nhuan, is in a bar drinking with his comrades and Russian soldiers. Vietnamese Guy: "General, maybe you should slow down, we have a big day tomorrow." General Nhuan: "We're celebrating, captain. It's not every day you win a war, let alone against the American devils. I'm getting another bottle." Nhuan walks over to the bar where Raven is standing keeping an eye on him, as he walks over to stand beside her she knocks her glass over and turns to face him accusingly; in French. Mystique: "Excuse me. I'm pretty sure it was my fault." General Nhuan: "You speak Vietnamese?" Mystique: "I'm an interpreter. I speak many tongues." General Nhuan: "Let me buy you another drink... unless you're here with someone." Mystique: "I'm alone." General Nhuan: "A bottle of Johnnie Walker please." In Nhuan's hotel room, while he pours his drink, Raven notices his invitation for the summit in Paris on the table. Mystique: "You're going to the summit tomorrow?" General Nhuan: "A pretty girl interested in politics." Mystique: "Looks can be deceiving." General Nhuan: "Show me more, baby. Clothes off." Mystique opens her coat before she slowly shifts her body into her mutant form. Nhuan watches her in shock. Mystique: "What's the matter, baby? You don't think I look pretty like this?" Raven drops her coat and holds her foot against Nhuan's throat, knocking him unconscious. Raven then picks up Nhuan's invitation on the table and looks at his unconscious body. She drops her coat then holds her foot against his throat until he becomes unconscious and then picks up the invitation on the table to the summit in Paris.

~Back on the plane~

Erik goes over to Charles carrying a chess set. Erik: "Fancy game? It's been a while." Charles: "I'm not in the mood for games, thank you." Erik: "I haven't a real slip in ten years. I didn't kill the president." Charles: "The bullet curved, Erik." Erik: "Because I was trying to save him. They took me out before I could." Charles: "Why would you try and save him?" Erik: "Because he was one of us." Charles: "You must think me so foolish. We've always said they would come after us." Erik: "I never imagined they'd use Raven's DNA to do it." Charles: "When did you last see her?" Erik: "The day I left Dallas." Charles: "And how was she?" Erik: "Strong, driven, loyal." Charles: "How...how was she?" Erik: "She was...we were... I could see why she meant so much to you. You should be proud of her, Charles. She's out there fighting for our cause." Charles: "Your cause. The girl I raise, she was not capable of killing." Erik: "You didn't raise her, you grew up with her. She couldn't stay a little girl forever, that's why she left." Charles: "She left because you got inside her head." Erik: "That's not my power. She made a choice." Charles: "But now we know where that choice leads, don't we? She's going to murder Trask, they're going to capture her, and then they're going to wipe us out." Erik: "Not if we get to her first. Not if we change history tomorrow. I'm sorry, Charles. For what happened, I truly am." Charles: "It's been a while since I've played." Erik: "I'll go easy on you. Might finally be a fair fight." Charles: "You have the first move." Erik looks down and moves a piece using his power. Y/n: "Sweet Honey Iced Tea." Logan: "How many replacement curses do you know?" Y/n: "That was an acronym."
