Chapter 17

~at the same time in the past~

The Sentinels float over the crowd then stop and Erik makes one of them start shooting at a police car, the crowd panics and makes a run for it. Young Charles: "Erik!"

~back in the future~ 

Storm rises and starts to manipulate the weather to stall the Sentinels. Bishop: "Storm!" 

~In the past~

Secretary of Defense: "Take us to Defcon 3! Mr. President, we are code red. Once our air defense readies" President Nixon: "What the hell happened out there?" Trask: "I will fix it." President Nixon: "You damn well better!"

~back in the future~

Magneto, with Storm's help, send the X-jet into the pod to explode, throwing hundreds of Sentinels down; at the same time in the past Erik floats the RFK Stadium above the White House and the Sentinels go over to join him. Logan and Y/n: "Charles!" Suddenly Erik drops the stadium down circling the White House, nearly crushing Charles, and dispatches the Sentinel around the stadium to stand guard.

~back in the future~ 

After Magneto has sent down the Sentinel. Storm: "Is everybody okay?" Magneto looks down and sees he's been stabbed in his stomach by a piece of metal which he takes out, then suddenly a Sentinel jumps from behind the walls and impales Storm from behind and throws her over the edge of the cliff, they then attack Bishop who blows himself up, as the Sentinel continues to attack, Magneto is sent back inside the monastery with Blink's help.

~in the past~ 

Logan and Hank look at one of the Sentinals that is standing guard inside the stadium surrounding the White House. Hank: "I'm probably not supposed to ask this kind of thing, but in the future, do I make it?" Logan: "No. But we can change that, right?" Y/n: "No one does." Young Erik: "Do what you were made for." The Sentinel turns to y/n, Logan, and Hank and starts shooting at them, Erik uses this opportunity to try and locate the safe room which Nixon and the others have been taken to. Erik: "Where are you?" Y/n uses her telekinesis to rip the wires from the sentinel. As Logan tries to fight off the Sentinel Beast jumps on top of it. Y/n: "Just like the future!" Logan: "Perhaps we can live." Beast: "I got this! Go!" As Logan and y/n approaches Erik he throws anything with metal attached to it at them, but he fights his way through, Erik then gets a block with rebars and wraps it through Logan's body, causing Logan in the future to nearly break the link with Kitty. 

~Future~

Professor X: "Oh, dear God, no." 

~in the past~

Erik, makes Logan rise, and float making him yell in pain. Y/n: "Logan!" Erik: "So much for being a survivor." He then throws Logan into the Potomac River, causing extreme distress to Logan in the future. Y/n continues to move towards Erik. Using her mutations to find Raven and to protect her from the metal. 

~inside the safe room~

As Raven waits to attack Trask suddenly he hears his small device beeping, he takes it out of his pocket and turns to Nixon. Trask: "One of them is in here." Suddenly Raven points her gun to shoot. Security: "Gun!" Everyone points their guns at Raven still disguised as the Secret Service Agent. Trask: "No, no, no, no! Don't kill it! I need it alive."

~just then~

Erik starts to pull the the safe room out of the White House. President Nixon: "What the hell is happening?" Erik pulls the safe room out of the White House and it lands on the lawn in front of Erik, he pulls apart the door, floats all their guns into the air then turns all the live news cameras toward him and gives a speech. Y/n: "Erik, don't do this." Erik: "You built these weapons to destroy us. Why? Because you are afraid of our gifts. Because we are different. Humanity has always feared that which is different. Well, I'm here to tell you, to tell the world, you're right to fear us. We are the future." 

~back in the future~

The Sentinels kill Colossus by ripping him in two and Warpath burnt alive.

~in the past~

Quicksilver is watching the TV as Erik gives his speech.

~With Y/n~

Erik: "We are the ones who will inherit this earth, and anyone who stands in our way will suffer the same fate as these men you see before you. Today was meant to be a display of your power. Instead, I give you a glimpse of the devastation my race can unleash upon yours. Let this be a warning to the world." 

As Erik gives his speech we see sunspot being killed by the Sentinels; in the past Ink and Toad watch Erik giving his speech on the TV. Erik: "And to my mutant brothers and sisters out there, I say this; no more hiding, no more suffering. You have lived in the shadows in shame and fear for too long. Come out, join me. Fight together in the brotherhood of our kind. A new tomorrow, that starts today." Y/n starts to try to pull the metal off of Charles, and groans in frustration. Charles: "You've got to save them, by shutting him up." 

~In the future~

Blink is being impaled and killed by three Sentinels at once, inside the monastery, the wounded Magneto begins to succumb to his injury looks at Professor X. Magneto: "All those years wasted fighting each other, Charles. To have a precious few of them back." He extends his hand to Professor X and they hold each other's hand, suddenly they hear the explosions outside, Bobby uses his power to freeze the front door to give them more time. 

~back in the past~ 

Nixon walks out of the safe room to approach Erik. Secretary of Defense: "Mr. President! Sir!" President Nixon: "Stand down!" Nixon walks and faces Erik and points at him. Nixon: "You want to make a statement? Kill me? Fine! But spare everyone else!" 

~inside the safe room~

Trask looks to his left and we see the real Nixon standing next to him. 

~With Hank~

Hank is fighting the Sentinels, he notices Nixon talking to Erik, he stabs himself with several injections to revert himself to his human form. Erik: "Very heroic, Mr. President. But you have no intention of sparing any of us. The future of our species begins now." Erik points the floating guns at Nixon, then as one of the Sentinels goes to grab Hank he reverts back to his human form so the Sentinel backs off, instead, it looks across at Erik and Nixon and it sees both as being mutant so it makes a run towards them, but Erik pulls it apart, at that moment Nixon takes out his gun, shoots Erik, which grazes his neck and then Nixon transforms into Raven. Erik: "You used to be a better shot." Raven: "Trust me, I still am." After knocking Erik out, Raven turns and points her gun at Trask but suddenly everything freezes and she sees Charles appears by the safe room. Raven: "Get out of my head, Charles!" Charles: "Raven. Please, do not make us the enemy today." Raven: "Look around you, we already are!" Y/n walks towards the safe room. Charles: "Not all of us." Hank goes over to Charles, who's lying injured under some fallen debris from the stadium, he's communicating with Raven through her mind. Charles: "All you've done so far is save the lives of these men. You can show them a better path." Hank: "Shut her down, Charles." Charles: "I've been trying to control you ever since the day we met and look what that's got us. Everything that happens now is in your hands. I have faith in you, Raven." Charles unfreezes everyone and Raven continues to point her gun at Trask. 

~In the future~ 

Bobby gets killed by the Sentinels as they enter the monastery, and just as the Sentinels are about to kill Professor X, Magneto, Kitty, Crystal, Y/n, and Logan... 

~in the past~ 

Raven drops her gun and everyone in the dark future disappears. Raven takes off Erik's helmet as lies unconscious and walks away. Raven: "He's all yours, Charles." Charles then makes Erik open his eyes, rise, and then manipulates him into removing the metal bars off him so Hank can help him up. y/n goes and grabs the wheelchair and puts it next to them. Erik: "If you let them have me, I'm as good as dead. You know that." Charles: "I know." Y/n: "This isn't a 'goodbye' ya know?" Erik: "Then what is it?" Y/n: "It's an 'I'll see you later'." Erik: "Goodbye, old friend." Charles: "Goodbye, Erik." Erik looks at Raven for a moment before floating away, Raven then turns and looks at Charles and Hank before turning to walk away. Hank: "You sure you should let them go?" Charles: "Yes, I have hope for them. There's going to be a time, Hank when we are all together." We see Raven transforming into a soldier and walking away. Hank: "What about Logan?" Y/n: "I'll see you in the future."
