As they return to Charles' mansion he suddenly falls. Logan: "What happened?" Hank goes to help Charles to his feet. Hank: "Come on, up." Logan: "Why can't he walk?" Hank: "He needs his treatment." Charles: "It's okay, I'll make it stop. I'll get it." Logan: "Hey, hey, pull yourself together. It's not over yet." Charles: [reading Logan's mind] "You don't believe that." Logan: "How do you know?" Y/n: Didn't Hank explain this to us. Charles: [pointing to his legs] "As these go... [pointing to his head] ...this comes back. They all come back!" Logan: "Look, we're...we're still here. She's still out there. But we need your help, Charles. Not like this, we need you. We can't find Raven, not without your powers." Hank: "I added a little extra cause you missed a dose." Logan: "Charles." Charles looks at Logan and just as he's about to inject himself he decides against it and puts the injection down. Charles: "Hank, do me a favor. Would you help me to my study, please?" Hank: "Alright." Hank helps Charles walk over to his study, he then opens the closet door. Hank: "Are you sure about this?" Young Charles: "Absolutely not." They look at Charles' wheelchair.

~meanwhile~

Looking at Raven's blood under the microscope. Trask: "This creature is extraordinary. Her genes could hold the key to mutation itself. I need more." Major William Stryker: "That's all they were able to scrape off the pavement in Paris." Trask: "More than blood. I need brain tissue, spinal fluid, bone marrow. Imagine Sentinels that could transform, adapt to any target. If I could just get my hands on her. This girl could leap the program forward years, decades into the future. How old is your son now, Major?" Major William Stryker: "Jason? He's coming up on ten now if you can believe it." Trask: "Eight years from fighting age. And how many of our sons and brothers did we just ship home in body bags? Maybe fifty... fifty-five thousand. And how many more on the other side? Never before in all of human history has there been a cause which could unite us as a species, until now." Major William Stryker: "You hate mutants, doctor, don't you?" Trask: "On the contrary, I rather admire them. The things they can do. I see mutants as our salvation." Major William Stryker: "A common enemy." Trask: "A common struggle against the ultimate enemy: Extinction. I believe our new friends are going to help us usher in a new era, Bill." As the Sentinels are being shipped off we see Erik sneaking into Trask Industries. Speakers: "Attention, attention. Transport departure in two hours. Repeat, transport departure in two hours."

~Meanwhile~

Charles, now in his wheelchair, Logan, Y/n, and Hank make their way towards the entrance to Cerebro. Logan: "When was the last time you were down here?" Hank: "The last time we went looking for students." Charles: "A lifetime ago." Charles's eyes get scanned at the doorway. Computer: "Welcome, Professor." The doors open and they enter inside making their way towards Cerebro, Hank turns on the equipment. Hank: "Raven's wounded, she won't be moving fast." Charles picks up the Cerebro and blows the dust off of it. Charles: "These are muscles I haven't stretched in a long time." He puts Cerebro on his head and instantly sees and hears the call of other mutants which overwhelms him. Charles: "God!" The frantic call of the mutants starts to overwhelm Charles and he loses focus. Logan and Y/n: "Charles!" Suddenly not being able to handle it Charles causes the Cerebro equipment to break down. Charles takes Cerebro off his head. Hank: "Charles! Charles, it's alright. I'll go check the generator. Y/n: "It's not the machinery, is it?" Charles: "I can't do this, my mind..." Logan: "Yes, you can." Charles: "It won't take it." Logan: "You're just a little rusty." Charles: "You don't understand, it's not a question of being rusty. I can flip the switches, I can turn the knobs, but my power comes from here, it comes from... [he touches his head and goes to point to his heart] And it's broken. I felt like one of my students, helpless. It was a mistake coming down here. It was a mistake freeing Erik. This whole thing has been one bloody mistake! I'm sorry, Logan, but they sent back the wrong people." Y/n: "You're right. We are." Charles stops by the doors and Logan walks towards him. Logan: "Actually it was supposed to be you. But we were the only ones who could physically make the trip. And uh...I don't know how long we've got here, but I do know that a long time...actually, a long time from now, I was your most helpless student, and you unlocked my mind. You showed me what I was, you showed me what I could be. I don't know how to do that for you. You're right, I don't. But I know someone who might. [Charles looks confused] Look into my mind." Charles: "You saw what I did to Cerebro. You don't want me inside your head." Logan: "There's no damage you can do that hasn't already been done, trust me." Charles: "You saw what I did to Cerebro. You don't want me inside your head." Charles touches his fingers to Logan's head and enters his mind, he sees Logan's memories of Stryker experimenting on him, meeting Jean Grey, falling in love with her, and then having to kill her. Charles: "You, poor, poor, man." Logan: "Look past me." Charles: "No, I don't want your suffering, I don't want your future!" Logan: "Look past my future, look for your future. [Charles starts to focus again] That's it. That's it. That's it." As Charles goes deeper into Logan's memories he wakes to find himself in the future lying down in Logan's position, he rises and sees his older self, Magneto, Kitty, and Bobby, he walks over to his older self who suddenly senses Charles. Professor X: "Charles?" Charles: "Charles." Past Charles looks around. Charles: "So this is what becomes of us? Erik was right. Humanity does this to us." Professor X: "Not if we show them a better path." Charles: "You still believe?" Professor X: "Just because someone stumbles, loses their way, it doesn't mean they're lost forever. Sometimes we all need a little help." Charles: "Oh, I'm not the man I was. I open my mind and it almost overwhelms me." Professor X: "You're afraid, and Cerebro knows it." Charles: "All those voices, so much pain." Professor X: "It's not their pain you're afraid of, it's yours, Charles. And as frightening as it may be, that pain will make you stronger. If you allow yourself to feel it, embrace it, it will make you more powerful than you ever imagined. It's the greatest gift we have, to bear their pain without breaking, and it's born from the most human power: Hope. Please. Charles, we need you to hope again." Logan: "Find what you were looking for?" Hank: "Power's back on." Charles: "Yes. Yes, it is." Y/n: "Ready?"

~With Erik~

After sneaking into Trask Industries Erik has boarded the train that is transporting the Sentinels he manipulates the train tracks and inserts them into the Sentinels.

~In the future~

Bobby tends to Kitty's wound. Bobby: "She's lost too much blood. She can't keep going like this." Magneto: "We have no choice, Bobby." Bobby: "We can wake him up." Professor X: "No! They need more time. I had a glimpse into the past. If we wake Logan now, we may set off an even darker course. They need more time." Crystal: "I can always try to do both of them." Bobby: "Too risky for the both of you."
