[Third Person POV]
"Blood..."
Shouyo muttered as he slowly walked to the bathroom. He's gotten used to such sight, too used.
He turned the tap on, washing his hands and then his face.He stepped out the bathroom and plopped onto his bed when he felt a sudden ache in his chest, he tried to get up but his body was devoid of strength.
His little sister , Natsuo , yelled from downstairs "Big brother , dinner's ready!"
There was no reply. Natsuo having received no answers went upstairs and knocked on her brother's door.*knock knock knock*
Nothing. Complete silence. The door creaked open. She peeked inside.
Oh my god!! A wide-eyed terrified look enveloped her face. She ran downstairs as fast as she could , shouting to her mom ,"Mom! Big Brother....Big Brother is....!" she trembled.
"What's wrong? What happened to Shouyo?" her mom asked worriedly.
Natsuo started crying and couldn't get any words out of her mouth. This was serious. Her mother bolted to Shouyo's room.Shouyo laid on his bed , unconscious , bedsheets covered with his own blood and vomit.
Overtaken with anxiety, the mother of two slowly approached her son's still body , hoping the situation isn't what it appears to be. She could barely breathe, much less think of the pieces of broken glass she was stepping on bare-footed.
"SHOUYO!!!"
[Time Skip - The Next Day]
Shouyo woke up in a rather cold , white room. The scent of antiseptics wafted throughout the room. What a familiar scent.
He shifted his head, looking to his left , he sighed seeing an IV drip attached to his arm.Shouyo could hear voices coming from outside the door
"Doctor , will my son be alright?" worry evident in the speaker's voice,
"I can't make any promises. I'm sorry. I advise that he stays away from exhausting physical activities or mental stress. Please come again for regular check-ups to keep an eye on his condition , his terminal illness certainly can't be ignored. If left unchecked it could very well affect his other organs and result in his death".Shouyo laid still. overfilled with emotions yet somehow devoid of emotions.
There was silence for a while. Blissful, welcomed silence.
"I... understand..but Doctor , my son loves volleyball very much and has to compete in the Spring High Tournament soon , is his health at risk if he proceeds?"
"Yes. I'm really sorry but playing volleyball competitively will not only put him at risk of more incidents such as this but could also worsen his weak constitution. "
"..I see.." was all the mother could say. She was very saddened by the words of the doctor. What kind of mother would want to take away the happiness of their child?
Shouyo developed his illness at the age of 3, though he didn't start showing symptoms until he turnt 5, on his birthday nonetheless, the same day he met Miya Atsumu.
The orange-haired boy heard the door knob being turnt and sat up on the bed
"Shouyo , you're awake now", his mother lit up. He could only return a faint smile."The doctor said it wasn't that serious and that we could get discharged today. You were also advised to continue inhaling your nebulizer every night again and...to cease playing...volleyball..." she tried her best to not sound so depressing, but it was hard.
Shouyo admired the strength his mother possessed. He always had and always will.
"Got it Mom!" he put on the widest smile he could make.
"Oh! Shouyo, I almost forgot. While you were unconscious the same person kept calling your phone", his mom hastily handed the boy his phone.
Shouyo checked his call history , slightly hoping it was a certain blonde boy; however, it wasn't who he expected. Not in a million years. Not with that personality of his anyway."Kageyama...."
