Heavy metal music invaded his ears. His eye lids parted as he rolled over on to his side. He stared at the sound emitting culprit, his phone. "I love this song but it's. To. Early!" He grabbed his phone slamming his finger in to the "stop" button at record speeds. Letting out a long and overdramatic sigh he looked across the hall in to the bathroom. "That nightmare again."
Shuddering ever so slightly at the memory he's worked so very hard to repress. He lurched forward in to the bathroom to get himself ready for day one of year two at his new school. He still couldn't believe it, Japan. Of all the places he could end up it was here. How would they accept him? A westerner is going to stick out like a sore thumb. Would he be popular? A 180 from where he was in America.
No, more than likely he would be an oddity. Some would be very interested while others wouldn't want anything to do with him. His adoptive mother was pure Japanese and had no shortage of potential suitors in the States, or Japan. She was considered "beautiful". Or so he's been told. Even a pervert like him couldn't see his mother as anything but.
Pearly whites were getting brushed when he heard light foot steps coming up behind him.
"Oooh my beautiful baby-boy, you're up early!" His mother exclaimed.
"Huh? Oh, yeah, well today's the day..." he said trailing off at the end.
"Hmmm... you're going to be great and make lots and lots of friends!" She said excitedly.
"Eh... yeah maybe" he stated in a dejected way.
"Oh, oh and all the pretty Japanese girls you'll meet!"
"Sheesh mom c'mon!" He blushed slightly.
"Hehehe! So adorable." She pointed out to his embarrassment.
He looked at his reflection in the mirror, taking note of his imperfections. His scarred face, wounds he'd rather not think about. They were disappearing under a beard that grew in over his "vacation", if you could call it that. He wasn't worried about being bullied all that much. At least not to his face. He stood at almost six and a half feet tall, and had the muscle to fill his height out. Couple that with the scars and he was quite the scary sight.
"Oh ducky, you're beautiful and don't let any one tell you otherwise!" His mom chimed in.
"Yeah." Was all he responded before washing his face. "Time to shave this fur mask off!" He exclaimed.
While he started the process of de-furring his face his mother chuckled to herself as she plopped down in to her bed. He finished with his morning routine and took a giant, but relieving, dump. After which he put his uniform on and sauntered in to his mothers room to tell her goodbye.
"Okasan i..." He stopped his words. "She's out like a log" he thought. So he grabbed the edge of her blanket and pulled it up to her chin. She made a cute contented "Kuu~" as he did so. A small smile presented itself on his face. He bent down and whispered "Im off to class mama, love you." After which he gave her a little kiss on the forehead.
"Alright Jace, time go greet this messed up world." He thought to himself as his hand turned the door knob. The door opening to a unseasonably hot morning. He took a couple steps out of the apartment and looked out at the neighborhood. He could see his fellow peers as they scurried off to school, no doubt their minds filled with anticipation for the coming year. He wondered if any of the people he was watching would become friends? Perhaps enemies? Frienemies?
He let out another exacerbated sigh, forcing himself to move forward towards his destination. "Heeeere we go~"
