AMARA WOKE UP FREEZING, and she leaped out of bed at the cold liquid that had somehow managed to spill all over her. She ended up colliding with a hard chest. Lip.

"Jesus, what the hell are you doing?" She accused. "My mom doesn't want you here, remember? And what the hell is up with the ice bucket?"

Lip smirked. "You didn't answer your phone, so I thought this was the next best resort. Also, Margot's downstairs and unconscious, so relax."

Amara rolled her eyes, and pulled her soaking wet shirt over her head, throwing it in the hamper besides her bed. She saw Lip turn his head away from the corner of her eye as she leaned down to open her dresser, and she threw on another shirt.

"So I was thinking."

"Well that's never good," she replied with a laugh, grabbing the deodorant off her nightstand to put it on.

"Do you want to go with me to the University of Chicago today? The guy is dragging me to go."

Amara turned around, quirking a brow at him. "You sure? I mean, you got all prickly like a cactus when we talked about it the other day. I thought you didn't want to go."

"I don't," he said, shrugging. "But I figured we could at least check it out. Steal some sweatshirts from the bookstore."

She grinned at him, "so we're ditching again?"

He nudged her shoulder on the way out. "Man, fuck this school."

Amara laughed, pulling the front door open as the headed out. Luckily, Silvia had woken up on time that morning, and she didn't have to worry about getting her younger sister to school.

"You right," she told him as they began walking towards the L.

"So when you're not busting SAT cheaters, you're a teacher?" Lip asked the man, who's name Amara learned to be Hearst. She glanced around the inside of the building, not being what she expected at all.

The inside of the campus was beautiful, from windows that touched from ceiling to floor, to the surprisingly nicely decorated interior. Needless to say, she was impressed, shockingly. Maybe she was biased and just hated Chicago, but either way, she definitely wasn't prepared for the college to look that nice.

"Professor," Hearst corrected, and Lip glanced back to Amara who was walking behind them, a smirk on his face. "SAT is a side gig. Pays for my boat."

"You've got a boat?" Amara questioned, and he barely looked back her way as he nodded. It wasn't a surprise that he was all about Lip—the boy was a genius. Everybody was always focused on him when they were together, she was used to it at that point. However, that still didn't stop her from feeling like she got punched in the gut. "So you looking to adopt a daughter or no?"
