I'm a sad b*tch I don't need friends

"Being alone never felt right. Sometimes it felt good, but it never felt right."

It was a nice day. A nice day, indeed.

"A midterm exam!?"

Well, as nice as it can be when you're surrounded by a bunch of morons.

"With the villain attack and the sports festival occupying me, I didn't even have time to think about an exam!" Kaminari wailed as his head hit the desk with a 'thump'.

"We're doomed!" Mina sobbed as she followed Kaminari's action, their surrounding friends consoling them.

"Hah..." A tired frown appeared on her face, recalling a certain idiot. 'I miss my idiot.'

"I can tutor you if you like! Kaminari-San, Mina-san!" Yaoyorozu offered with a gentle smile, envying her kind gesture.

"She didn't greet me with that kind of face..." You grumbled under your breath, leaning forward with your chin propped up with the help of your hand. You admit that you may have been a bit rude when you first spoke to her, but that doesn't excuse the way she acted!

While [Y/n] threw a tantrum about Yaoyorozu's attitude towards her, Midoriya was currently mustering up every courage he had to ask the sulking female a simple offer.

'Should I even ask a favor that I know she's gonna reject? No! Stop thinking so gloomy, Izuku! I got this.'

Lately, three males in the class noticed her lonesome behavior. The way she longingly set her gaze on the happily chatting students, how the corner of her lip would unnoticeably twitch up when she listened in on her classmates. It was as if she wanted to be a part of that group, too. How long has it been since her last talk with any of the students? Who could blame them, though...

...[Y/n]'s just a petty villain. That's all she is to them.

"Uhm... [L/n]-chan?" The broccoli approached the lonesome female, twiddling his thumbs as he avoided eye contact with her.

"Hm? What is it, Midoriya..?" Her tired voice reached his ears, but what she said caught him off guard, causing him to reel back in shock.

'Eh!? She called me Midoriya!?'

"I.. I was wondering if- if we could st- stud-"

"Oh? There you are, Deku-kun! It's already lunchtime! What are you doing standing there?" Uraraka chimed in and proceeded to usher Deku out of the classroom, but not before taking a glance at [Y/n], poker-faced. A seemingly fake smile formed on the girl's face, gesturing to her and Midoriya.

"If you'd like, you could join us for lunch, [L/n]-chan." Her tone was cheerful, but her face was downright unpleasant. The way she acted towards her made [Y/n] laugh at her pettiness. Silence engulfed them for a few seconds until it was broken by the scraping of a chair.

"Oh, no. It's fine. I can tell when I'm unwanted." Not gonna lie, [Y/n] really wanted some company right about now. Despite having little-to-no friends, she actually despised being alone for a long period, the silence being too loud for her. Even in middle school, when she was being relentlessly picked on by Bakugo and her classmates, she never once wanted them to leave her. Afraid of the silence, afraid of being alone,

and afraid of herself.

"Ah, it can't be helped, then. C'mon, Deku! Iida's waiting for us." Uraraka pulled the reluctant Izuku out of the classroom, sending the girl an apologetic bow before walking out, leaving the girl to her lonesome thoughts.

"Hah... How nice it must be to have someone to care for you..."

[Y/n] muttered to the silence before exiting out the door.

"What's wrong, [Y/n]? You look dead!" Tetsutetsu waved a hand over her face as they glanced at her blank face with concern. [Y/n] waved them off in response, assuring them she was just tired. While her friends happily chatted away, she was stuck with her own thoughts, ropes of doubt wrapped around you like vines. Is it really okay for you to live like this? Stuck in a school you don't belong to, making friends.

Friends.

What are friends? Are they someone who's always by your side? Or are they people who understand and respect?

[Y/n] looked to the people who were sitting with her, unaware of her intrusive thoughts. Are they my friends?

And then suddenly, another thought popped up when she saw Kendo smile.

Am I allowed to have such bona fide friends?

Her train of doubt never ceased even after school.

With Uraraka constantly beside him, Izuku never had a chance to speak with [Y/n] and it greatly frustrated him. But when he saw her walking out of class and Uraraka chatting with Iida, he used this golden opportunity to catch up with the [H/c]-nette.

"A-Ano, [L/n]-chan?" She halted her steps when she heard a soft voice call behind her, slowly turning her head. Tired [E/c] eyes clashed with lively forest green ones, the female staring him down with no emotion displayed on her face.

Beads of sweat formed on his temple, momentarily forgetting his objective when he saw her dead eyes. Hesitantly opening his mouth, he tried to form any words, but none came out. He looked like a fish out of the water at the moment.

"What do you want, Midoriya?"

Her icy tone didn't surprise him, but the name she addressed him as caught him off guard. It wasn't like this was the first time she called him that, but when she quit calling him 'Deku', it warmed his heart. He was happy that she doesn't hate him to an extent.

"I was just wondering... If you would like to study with... Me?"

His voice wavered with each word as he saw her eyes narrowed suspiciously, not trusting a single word he said. In [Y/n]'s mind, she couldn't comprehend his words as she racked up her brain for any answers.

'Does he pity me?'

'Is he doing this just to mock me?'

On one side, she wouldn't be lonely in her apartment anymore. And she won't be bored, either. But on the other, she didn't trust him enough. Sure, he may look nice and innocent, but what if he was doing this not because he wants to, but because he was forced to by his friends? Who would wanna go near her, let alone study with her? Does he think she's stupid or something?

"Are you implying that I'm an idiot? Who sent you to do this?" [Y/n] inched closer to the nervous male, him stepping back in fear.

"N-NO! I'm just asking because..." He paused, his eyes looking far ahead, as if recalling an old memory. "Back when we were in elementary and middle school, you were always getting perfect scores and... I just want your help. Maybe I could help you with yours, too...?" Izuku meekly uttered out without a single eye contact with her. He already knew the answer, but it was worth a-

"Why... Why are you so persistent..?"

"P-Pardon?"

"Why are you so adamant about spending time with me!? Why... Why would you even bother with a villain... Like me?" Her tone was distressed, desperate for any answer. She spent all this time without any interaction or company except for two, so why was she craving for something? Something warm, similiar to when she hugged her father; a sense of reassurance and content.

"I.. I just thought you needed a friend or maybe some company, b-but it's okay if you don-!"

"Very well, Midoriya. I'll help you study. Tomorrow, after school; got it?" The [H/c]-nette shoved her hands in the pocket of her orange jacket, heaving a sigh before leaving without hearing Izuku's response.

"A friend...

...As if."
