"JACE!!!!" The scream was blood curdling enough to shock him into action. Of course when he stumbled into their bedroom with his heart hammering wildly, there was no blood... much to his relief, of course.

"Riele, what!..." The curly head beauty ran straight into his arms. She had her towel around her. She was sobbing heartbreakingly. Jace tried his best to calm her down.
"What, baby, what,?!!" Jace urged her on.
She heaved and heaved but finally managed to get the words out.." Sp...spi.."
He cupped her face in his hands trying to make some sense of her ramblings.

"Riele...breathe...just breathe...okay."
She nodded and took a few much needed breaths.
"Now tell me.. what happened in there..
"Oh Jace, there is a giant spider in there. It nearly killed me, " she whined. Jace resisted the urge to roll his eyes because he knew she had a very real fear of spiders.

" It's okay, sweety, you're fine now." He rubbed her back soothingly. "Is it still in there?" he asked softly.
She nodded. "I think so... I just ran out of there ..Oh, Jace.."
"Shhh...it's okay, baby..I'm gonna go check..".
"Noo.. she shrieked. "Don't go in there , Jace. What if it bites you?"
"Riele...Rie..how am I going to kill it if I don't go in there?", he asked, his exasperation growing...if I don't go in there, and kill it, it could come in here (their bedroom).

"Aaaahhh.. she squealed and jumped into his arms, clinging to him like a panda bear. Jace was finding it quite amusing. Here she was, Miss Smarty pants, Miss Boss-of-them-all..(not that anybody ever complained), scared out of her wits..now if he was an evil person, he might use this situation against her at a later stage..but he considered himself a decent, God-fearing man.

"Riele, you have to get down.."
"Noo "she moaned and clutched on even tighter.
"Okay, fine. "Jace walked with her to the bed and put her down on it and she let go of him reluctantly. "I think you're safe here." She nodded.
"Okay, I'm going into the bathroom now .
"Jace, No..take something to kill it with. Don't touch it with your hands. It could be poisonous.."
"Lord, have mercy" he thought.

"Riele, baby, this is not the Amazon jungle. We don't have deadly spiders running around. I promise you. " Her anxious facial expression told him she was not fully convinced. "So I'm gonna get a shoe and kill it, okay?"
"And what if it jumps on you, Jace?"
Jace sighed deeply and ran his hand over his face. "Okay...let me go get some bug spray and then I'll go in there spraying the hell out of that son-of-a..!

He turned to leave. "Noo.. don't leave me here."
"Okay, hop on my back and I'll take you to the living room."

Jace finally returned to the bathroom with a glass jar. Riele decided she didn't want him to be a spider killer, that he should just "wind" it and go release it somewhere. This lead to one of their epic debates.

So you expect me to drive miles out to go release this thing,??
Jace asked incredulously.
Are you kidding me right now, Riele?
Jace, I don't want that thing near our house or even near our neigborhood.

So now he was entering the bathroom and found the famed eight-legged fiend sitting in a corner ...and lo and behold, it wasn't a giant as his darling wife proclaimed, not that size matters.
A killer is still a killer, right?
With little to no effort he manoeuvred the spider into the jar and closed the lid.
"There you go, spidey."

He strutted into the living room where Riele was waiting with baited breath. She was wearing a long gown and slippers by now.
"Did you get it?"
"Yes, baby, I got it, and I'm still alive.
She looked relieved.

Some evil entity must have possessed him at that moment, because he couldn't resist scaring her. "Hey, Rie...catch! He called out and made as if to throw the jar at her.
Riele, with speed that he never knew she possessed, took off to the front door, yanked it open and almost hurled herself outside.

"Oof..!!" Somebody's air went out of their lungs as she impacted a tall, sturdy body. Strong hands gripped her arms and held her in position. "What the..Riele?!!" The person called out. She looked up into her father-in- law's face.
"Mr Norman..dad!! Riele quickly jumped behind him with that same spurt of fear.
Out came Jace through the door, just to be met with an angry, scowling face.
"Oh, Hi dad.."
"Jace, what's going on here...why is Riele running for her life? he asked.
"Dad, please..he lifted the jar to his dad's face.
"Okay, so why are you chasing her with that thing?"
"I'm not chasing her, dad. I caught it in the bathroom and now I'm going to "release" it, he air quoted. Riele is just overreacting.

Riele peeked out from behind her father-in-law.
"No, I am Not! You were going to throw it at me."
Jace snickered. "I was just kidding, Rie...you know I would never do that to you. Now, come out behind dad."
"No!"
"Rie.."

Jace's dad intervened just in time. He figured they would stand there the whole day and argue and he wasn't having any of it.

"Tell you what, Jace. Go and lock the jar in my boot and I'll take it with me when I go home. Right, Riele?"
"Okay, the response came.

Riele cautiously came out behind him and gave him a quick hug...and pushed Jace out of the way and marched inside

Jace's dad only shook his head at his youngest son.

"What?!!..Jace asked , shrugging his shoulders innocently.

Tell me what you think of this chapter.,

And do you think this is an accurate portrayal of how we as women act(I do).

And don't you think Jace is the most patient man in the world to put up with her nonsense?

But really, I just wanted to get back at Riele. She's always running the show. Doing what she wants. I hope you don't mind🤗
