Most of the afternoon went by and without even noticing the sun setting it was after 5 pm before Lara groaned at spending another Saturday afternoon in the studio. She really did have no life. What a depressing thought.
Just when she had resigned herself to settle in bed tonight with a good book and glass of wine, her phone rang. Recognising the number, “Charlie, miss me last night?” it wasn’t a typical employee employer relationship, but they seemed to understand each other even when she didn’t think most people could understand her.
Laughing, “How could I not?” “Thought so” she retorted. “What’s up?” “Where are you? Nevermind that When are you leaving the studio?” She could almost feel herself blush at the question, he definitely knew her too well. “Charlie is there something you needed other than to chastise your most valuable employee?” she smirked. “Yes, I need you to accompany me tonight; trying to close a deal with this artsy, independent director and your charm might just do the trick.” She couldn’t help but laugh, “Well I suppose I can set some time aside for an artsy independent director, where and when?” “No worries I’ll get Henry to pick you up, 8pm”. Glancing at her watch, Shit, an hour. “Thanks for giving me heads up. Gotta’ go” and with that she was heading to her closet. Charlie knew her sarcasm all too well, laughing to himself he set his gaze back to Grayson Stone, “Meet us tonight at Le Fluer, Mike will no doubt have a list of questions.” “Us?” “Yeah, my Art director will meet us there. She is just the type of her person to handle Mike.” Chuckling to himself, “I didn’t know there was anyone who could handle Mike.” “Well, she can handle just about anyone, just wait you’ll see”
“Dammit” what the hell am I supposed to wear? She thought, business meeting hmmm, heading to her closet, she shuffled through finding a fitted emerald colour dress with a low cutting back, professional yet alluring she thought, this might just do the trick, Artsy director as Charlie like to call them always have a roving eye. Don’t get me wrong, I definitely don’t need my looks to get my work done, however this industry relies it appearance. Settling for a nude pair of heels and gold chunky necklace, she made her way to the door. Stopping to grab her purse, Ipad and glasses, “God Dammit Charlie” she muttered “Not even time to put in contacts”.
