"Erwin.. Please understand, I-"
"Wait-" Erwin tried to get to his father, but another man dragged him off. A whirlwind of emotions was swirling inside him, drowning him. Fear, confusion, sadness, betrayal. He struggled against the strong arms carrying him away from his father who held tears in his eyes, mouthing his departing words.
'I'm sorry,'
"No, wait dad-!"
Erwin was cut off by the slam of a door and the rev of an engine before the vehicle he was in started to move. Tears of panic pricked his eyes, watching the figure of his father get smaller and smaller before disappearing completely.
"Why are you doing this?? What did I do??" Erwin interrogated the driver through the little glass window. The man with shaggy black hair and light stubble barely glanced in the rear view mirror, huffing to himself. He ignored Erwin when he continued to bombard him with questions until he gave up, slumping into his seat in defeat. An hour later Erwin arrived at the hospital. The dull building was huge and the land was well kept. Where you would expect dead weeds was bushes and grass, trees lining the perimeter. No matter how nice the building looked, it still didn't make Erwin feel better about being taken from his home. A large sign was in front of the building, reading 'Maria Mental Clinic'. Great. The guard escorted Erwin through the double doors.
Inside the walls were white, strange abstract art occupying them. The chairs near the door seemed old and crusty, the light scent of cigarettes peppering the air. The receptionist looked up.
"Is this the new patient?" The guard nodded.
"Erwin Smith, I.D 173." Erwin shivered hearing his name fall from the mans lips. He didn't like it.
"West wing, room 46." The lady said, peering at her computer over the rim of her glasses.
The man lead Erwin along the symmetrical corridors which were empty and plain, nothing to indicate any difference between the multitude of halls that filled the building.Erwin was sure they were walking in circles, taking what seemed like endless turns before the guard opened a door he didn't even notice until now.
"Here is your room. Change into the clothes you find on your bed and fold your old ones. Take off your shoes too. The bathroom is over there if you need it." He spoke with a dull tone as he gestured to a smaller room with a toilet and a sink, a curtain working as a 'door' for privacy."Hey-" Erwin was stopped by the big metal door closing on him, followed by what sounded like a click of a lock. He went up to it and twisted the handle, yanking on it hard. It wouldnt open.
"HEY!" Erwin shouted through the door in hopes the man would come back and explain to him why he was there, but to no avail. He gave the door a hard kick, anger bubbling inside him before he paused and pressed his eyes closed with an exhale, calming himself down. A second later he opened them again to survey the room.
It was small, holding a dresser and a white bed with a pile of folded clothes sitting on top of the blankets. The walls were bare, a single barred window allowing the cloudy light to filter through. It made the room seem a bit more welcoming.Erwin walked over and picked up a white tee shirt, reluctantly changing into it followed by light grey sweatpants. He was somewhat frightened of the consequences if he didn't change. Erwin clutched his clothes tightly to his chest, keeping his socks on after removing his shoes and sitting down on the bed. He didn't like the scent of these hospital clothes. It seemed as if they were trying to strip him of his identity.
Laying down on the soft sheets, Erwin stared at the ceiling while dozens of thoughts raced through his head. Many of them were about his father and why he sent him here. Surely he didn't believe those buffoons at his high school who insisted Erwin was a 'unique child' in need of 'special care', right?? His dad would never do that. Had he known that man was coming over to take him? Did he have any idea?? Why hadnt he fought back and saved Erwin??
He furrowed his brows, thinking of how ridiculous it was for him to be kidnapped by that dickwad and stuck in this loony house. He was perfectly normal!
"Damnit!" Erwin shouted loudly, angrily scoffing at the ceiling above while hoping a guard or someone nearby would hear his cry of disdain. For a while he laid there, a motion of thoughts circling his mind before he was eventually lulled to sleep by the buzzing lights above, empty dreams awaiting him in his slumber.

--------------------------------------------------------
Alright yall so I was gonna wait to publish this but whatever, here ya go.This fic is going to be much more elaborate than my other, so the chapters are going to take longer to update. I know, that sucks big time so that's why I'm gonna pre-write a some then update them one by one
Also, the characters personalities are going to be altered a little bit, but not too much. They are in a mental institution, so that's kind of what you'd expect. Dont worry, I'm not going to make them batshit crazy or severely unhinged or anything like that.
Hopefully this chapter has got you hooked ;) Please comment your thoughts! I enjoy reading them.-Beetle-
