Erwin was woken 30 minutes later by a strong voice.

"Smith, get up. Smith!" Footsteps moved to stand over the sleeping teenager. "Wake up, blondie."

Erwin groggily opened his eyes, quickly remembering where he was as he sat up and rubbed his face with a yawn. He made eye contact with the same black haired man from before who loomed above him.

"We have designated bed times, Mr. Smith. 5:30 in the evening is not one of them. Follow me." Erwin slid out of bed, subtly tucking his clothes under the blanket as the man turned away and headed out the door, not bothering to close it. The two males walked down the silent halls, nothing to signify there were any other humans there. It seemed.. Empty, like a ghost town. A well kept abandoned hospital. It seemed different this time, something had changed. The walls had marks on them. The floor tiles had changed in pattern. Were the lights a different color?

Something was different, yet Erwin didn't know what.

This place is strange..

"Mr. Smith, I'm going to be leaving you with Mike Zacharius. He will show you to the mess hall for dinner." The man informed as he kept walking.

Suddenly a tall man with dirty blond hair parted in the middle rounded the corner to face them both, nodding in greeting. The man came closer to Erwin before leaning towards him. Surprised, Erwin held still while wondering what the hell this guy was doing.

Is he smelling me??

A look of confusion was shown on his face as he pulled back.

"Is this the new patient, Nile?" The man presumed as Mike asked.

"Yes, his name is Erwin Smith. He just arrived today. What's with the face??" Nile inquired as Mike shook his head. "I've never met someone with no scent."

Nile's brow creased as he looked at Erwin with wonder. The blond seemed to have some 'wonders' of his own.

"Mike smells everyone he meets. It's a one time thing." He informed, adjusting his footing as if he wanted to leave.

"Oh." Erwin said, observing the man. A brief silence aired before Mike spoke.

"Well then, c'mon Erwin. It's time to go to the mess hall for dinner." He turned on his heel and headed straight down the hall while Nile disappeared somewhere behind them. Erwin remained quiet as Mike led the way.

"You're quiet tall for your age, aren't you Erwin?" Mike observed, making friendly conversation with the teenager. Erwin nodded to himself and replied.
"Yes sir, I get it from my father."

"Refer to me as Mike, if you will. Is your mother tall as well?" He asked, turning down another hall. Erwin shifted his gaze.

"From what I've heard, yes. I don't know too much about her. She disappeared 2 years after I was born."

"Oh."

The walk to the cafeteria was quite short after that as the two males arrived in silence. The mess hall was occupied by other patients, the first people of his age Erwin had seen so far. It was a bit relieving, his mind easing as the other teenagers conversed with friends.

Mike led Erwin to get a tray of food, standing at a distance so he wouldn't hover over the boys' shoulder and attract attention. That was inevitable though, considering all the eyes that stared at Erwin. The teen kept his attention on the food which consisted of chicken, mashed potatoes w/ gravy, peas, green beans, bread and soup. All of it looked very appetizing which surprised Erwin. He had expected it to be something like school food, but he was pleasantly proven otherwise. He helped himself to the chicken and a couple sides before looking for a place to sit.
