THE AWAKENING
' surprise! i'm alive mother fu- 'The blue-eyes girl sat at the edge of her bed, staring at absolutely nothing. Five, Six, and Two, who were peaking into her room from just outside her doorframe, glance at each other before backing away from the door and into Five's room.
"S-She's been like that ever since M-Mom brought her back f-from dad's s-study." Number Two says with a frown.
"What did dad do to her?" Six says, shaking his head as the two boy's just shrug.
"Did either of you try talking to her?" Five asks with a sigh as he looks over Two's shoulder, into the room across from his.
"No, mom said to just give her some space for now."
"Then, just give her some time. It's Reese, she'll be back to her old, annoying self in no time." Five says, plopping down onto his bed.
"But she's obviously t-traumatized."
"Look, I don't know what to tell you. I don't even know why you two came to me in the first place." Five says, making the two boys roll their eyes. "She hasn't even talked to me in four days, she's stilled pissed off from our last fight."
"Because we can see through your bullshit, Five. We know that you care about her as much as we do."
"Y-yeah, why else would you sacrifice yourself just to see if she w-was okay on the mi-mission the other day?" Two says, folding his arms over his chest.
"You guys are delusional."
"Whatever, just- if you see her do something that's not stare blankly at her wall, let us know."
"Fine."
"Please stop. I can't take it anymore, it hurts so much."
"Just one more-"
"No! Stop!" Reese squirmed in her bed, her eyebrows furrowed, but her eyes still closed. She was asleep. "I can't - I can't."
"Don't you want to save the world?"
"Y-yes."
"Then just one more -"
"No! Please, there must be another way! This way hurts too much!"
Black tears start to pour down the girl's face as the nightmare plagues her mind. She tossed and turned in her sleep, unaware of the pain she was putting the rest of the Academy through.
Across the hall from the girl, Five had his hand to his chest as he tried to get air circulation back into his lungs.
He reaches up to touch the liquid falling from his eyes before holding his hand up to his face. It was some type of black liquid that he didn't recognize.
