"_____________?" Those caring chocolate brown eyes.

"Something wrong?" That calm tone.

"___________." His selfless personality.

Sweet.

Helpful.

Intelligent.

Fun.

Humorous.

Lively.

That's Tadashi Hamada.

"Um, ___________?" Tadashi leaned forward and touched my arm, trailing it down to my hand.

"I'm fine, I've never been better, I'm just so..." I relaxed against his touch and reached to touch his face, but I stop myself. I felt it again.

All those bundled up insecurities, that I was never good enough, that I would never walk again. That I'd never leave this room. That I wouldn't be able to get my degree. That I'd never feel alive again.

But Tadashi, he made me feel like I was living again, like I was back on my two feet.

I'm alive because of him.

Because I can feel my heart just begging me to tell him to confess my bottled up feelings.

Thump! Thump! Thump!

"...happy that you're here." I drop my hand to my side, I don't think Tadashi noticed.

"Great, because I actually have a surprise for you." He dug through his backpack and pulled out a box. He opened it and held it out for me to see. There were two circular devices, but both had a point, maybe it was more leaf shaped. With an aqua blue orb attached to the middle.

"Cool, so uh, what does it do?"

"May I?" Tadashi lifts the white blanket sheet I nod for him to go on. He pushes the blanks away and asks to move me.

"Sure, but you better tell me what it does."

"You'll see." He smiled, leaning over to turn me towards him, I held on to his shoulders.

"Now the part you're not going to like. Lift up your dress." Tadashi gestured to my navy blue patient dress.

"You want me to what?" I cried, my cheeks warming in embarrassment.

"Just trust me, I'll turn around." Tadashi handed me the minuscule device. I held them in my palms, they were light, and maybe a couple ounces, but it was great craftsmanship. The designs were unique-- totally Tadashi.

"Okay, turn around." Tadashi rolls his eyes and chuckles, turning towards the door. I lifted the end of the dress and pulled it up to my lower stomach.

"Hey! No peeking!" I scolded him, seeing his head slightly tilt my way, "okay, so what do I do with them?" Holding them up, I studied them even more.

"Okay, place them both at your sides, where your waist is." I held them in place and waited for more instruction.

"Press the blue buttons." I tapped the device, and they suction cupped against my skin.

"Um, Tadashi..." I cried, were these devices supposed to do this?

"Click it twice again." I did so, and I felt a tingly sensation pass through me. The devices released four metal beams. One coming from the left on my left side and the other from the right. The two beams met and connected at each of the devices. Another two beams trailed down my frail, broken, paralyzed legs. The beams were thin pieces of metal, which felt cool against the skin where I had lost feeling so long ago. Wait, feeling? The beams met at my knees then continued to go down, connecting again at my ankles, and then lastly it turned into a metal shoe when it reached my feet.

"Tadashi, you can turn back around."
