Chapter 2

I slammed the door behind me and started running, aware of how late I was to school. “Ten minutes left, I can make it” I breathed.

My school was just around the corner, so it shouldn’t take me long to get there, I will definitely make it just in time for class, I thought, trying to calm myself down.

That’s when I bumped into something. I mean someone.

“Ouch,” I shrieked, looking up to see an old lady staring at me with a frown on her face. I dropped my gaze to the ground to see lemons dribbling on the floor.

I knelt down to help her pick them up. She looked very irritated; “I’m Sorry,” I smiled meekly, when she mumbled incoherent words under her breath.

After fetching for the scattered lemons, I got up on my feet and swiped the dust off my jeans. I quickly snatched my phone out of my pocket, desperate to know the time.

“Oh no,” I knew I was in deep trouble once I got to school.

I rushed through the empty corridor hearing my loud footsteps echo through the silence. I pushed the classroom’s door open, panting heavily.

Everybody’s eyes were on me and the classroom fell silent “hello there Kelly, well aren’t you a bit early?” the teacher uttered sarcasm evident in her voice.

Mrs. Smith wasn’t a very nice teacher; she’s one of those teachers that’ll hate you for the hell of it. I guessed she probably wouldn’t let me in, but I should at least try as I’ve got nothing to lose anyway.

“I apologize for being late Mrs. Smith. Can I come in now?” I responded fiddling with the bracelet on my wrist.

“No, you should respect my class’ time; if you don’t then you’re not going to attend. Now go to the principal’s office,”

I rolled my eyes closing the classroom door behind me. “Now go to the principal’s office,” I mimicked “stupid teacher,”. I kicked the wall on my way going to the office.

I knocked on the door twice before entering the office, scanning the room I found that the principal wasn’t there. But there was a guy in the room who I didn’t seem to recognize. He had all his attention on his phone that he didn’t even notice that I entered the office.

I cleared my throat, “Excuse me,”

“Huh,” he looked up slightly taken off guard

“Where’s the principal?”

He shrugged “he said he’ll be back in 5 minutes,”

I sat on the opposite chair.

“So why are you here?” he asked, his concentration back on his mobile.

“I came in late for school .What about you?”

“Got into a fight with some dude,”

He answered calmly, as if it wasn’t a big deal. He did look like trouble. He had blonde disheveled hair, and serene blue eyes. He was wearing a pair of jeans and an aqua t-shirt that matched his eyes. Both the shirt and pants were dirty, probably from the fight.

The door was creaked open, and the principal came into view.

“Oh another one,” he uttered, obviously dismayed. “What did you do?”

“I came in late,”

“Ok, I really don’t have any time for you two. So both of you can head to your classes ,you have to stay for after school detention though. And you put your phone away, the next time I see it with you I’m taking it away,” He pointed his finger at the guy.
