2 Weeks Later

Demi's PoV

It's been a couple weeks since Joe's return home after the accident. Everything's fairly been settled with the family, but there's still a bit of a cold shoulder coming from Denise every time her presence is near Joseph and Mase as they spend some "quality time" that was joe says.

We're in the family room at my place, Joe's parents off to the right talking with my parents whom are here as well. I sit beside Dallas who making mason laugh along with joe who sits beside her. My attention is turned onto my phone as I look over my news feed, the attention still on joe in the media as I see my name in several articles.

"I hate the fact that each article has no idea what the story is, seriously making me look like the bad guy." I say with pure disgust as I look up and over towards Joe. "Well, that's the thing. They don't know what happened and we've told the media all they needed to know." He said. "It's not just about the accident.. There's another which is bs. Saying the only reason I came back was to reclaim money from you and Disney and other bs." I groan silently while I shake my head as I hear Denise mutter 'then why did you come back.'

I turn my head towards her as she speaks silently to her husband as I speak up. "Because a boy should never grow up without a father and knowing who his father is." She turns her head to me as she stares me down before I sit back into my seat with rolled eyes. "Enough, Let's just go out to the mall or something. Cmon.." He speaks to me along with Dallas as he slowly lifts mason into his arms so we can leave.

At the mall.

We decided to wear our jackets with our hoodies on so we wouldn't be recognized so quickly once we were there but thankfully there wasn't too many people at the mall. I held onto joe's hand as we looked around while mason kept pulling into Dallas' hand to lead her into the toy store nearby. I couldn't help but let out a soft laugh as Dallas said that he'll watch him while me and joe went off to grab a snack.

"When I first came back, my first agenda was to come to the mall. No one recognized me which was great and mase's reaction to how huge this place was,was priceless." I said while legging out a small laugh as his ordered two small burger with fries for us as we took a seat in the table out front. "It's nice, it's been a while since I've been out here without Max,(the bodyguard.)"

We talked for a while about anything as Dallas and Mase later met up with us carrying s bundle of toys in the bag they got. We were walking through the mall as I stopped to look at some clothes with Dallas, while the guys stayed outside sitting on the bench in front of the store and eating some ice cream joe had bought.

"Joe Jonas.. Can we have a picture. Oh my god this is amazing." A girl shouted as I looked up to see a couple girls standing in front of him, he nodded once as he began to get surround by more people. My momma instincts began to kick in as I stormed outside to see Mase begin to get scared. I pushed through the crowd as I turned around to look at the crowd. "Guys that's enough pictures for now." I said as I lifted up Mase into my arms as he hid his head into my neck. "Who are you his bodyguard." A girl spoke with slight attitude while I turned around. "No I'm not I'm-" "Demi.. Lovato." A girl said cutting me off as I was speaking while other turned to look at me. We were surrounded now as a bunch of questions began spilling out from their mouths. 'Where have you been and why did you leave. Is that your son. Are you coming back to music of tv.'

I felt a bit of anxiety come over me as I looked up at joe who saw it immediately and calmed the crowd by sayin we needed to leave.
I don't know how we got through the crowd but we did as we left the mall.

At my place again.

Everyone seemed to have left as we settled in the house, mason began playing with his new toys in his room as I sat down in the living room with Joe as we laughed a bit at how many people surrounded us. "Sorry it's like hard now to get in front of a crowd like that, my momma bear instincts kicked in as they all surrounded." I Said. "I should've been worried more about how scared Mase was getting."

The conversation continued as the rest of the day finished. Just before getting into bed a call came in.
