Sam comes home half an hour later and I filled him in on everything that had happened from the boys arguing to the way Mickey spoke to me. Sam stormed upstairs and into the bedroom. I quickly raced after him.
"Sam, don't lose your temper it's.." I quickly started but he interrupted me before I could finish what I was saying.
"I'll deal with this Ella, just go downstairs please and keep an eye on Mason. God knows what he's up to with no responsible adults to keep an eye on him." Sam instructed me calmly.
"Are you sure?" I asked him quietly.
"Yes please Ella. I'll deal with Mickey. Don't worry I'll try not to lose my temper." He reassured me.
"Ok then, I'll keep an eye on Mason." I replied, closing the door nervously behind me.

I hadn't even got down the stairs when I heard shouting coming from the twins' bedroom. I instantly felt nervous about leaving the two of them alone because I know first hand what happens when Sam loses his temper. I know he wouldn't hurt Mickey, at least I don't think so.

"Michael James Dalton get out from under that duvet now!" Sam shouted at him.
"No!" Mickey grumbled moodily.
"I said get out of that duvet!" Sam yelled at him, yanking the duvet off him.
"What do you want?" Mickey sighed angrily.
"Don't you dare speak to me in that tone of voice young man! I want to know just who on earth you think you are! Speaking to Ella the way you did, arguing with Mason.." Sam started but Mickey interrupted him.
"Who do I think I am? I think I'm a seven year old boy who's mum died and I need guidance from my father but you're NEVER here! Don't start with all the "I have to work" rubbish! You're NEVER HERE! You never do anything with us because you have your nose pushed into your computer! When are you gonna take a day off, do something fun with us and be a DAD?! We're not going to be young forever you know? You only get one shot at being a dad and right now, you're failing! As for Mason, he hit me on the head!" Mickey argued, pushing Sam.
"Don't try and push me over and do NOT push your luck young man! You're in enough trouble as it is. Just what on earth has got into you? You used to be polite and well mannered. It's like you've turned into the devil child overnight. I'll deal with Mason later on for hitting you because he shouldn't have done that but right now, you're the one who's been the most naughty so I'm dealing with you first. Get off that bunk bed and go and apologise to Ella and your brother. I've had a long day and I just want a bath and to relax." Sam sighed.
"Erm no!" Mickey argued, crinkling his nose up in disgust.
"I mean it. Go and apologise now. I won't tell you again." Sam repeated himself.
"I said no!" Mickey yelled repeatedly.
"Go and apologise now!" Sam yelled, trying to pull Mickey off the bed.
"Get off me you idiot!" Mickey argued, pushing Sam.
"Don't push me boy. You know what happens when you push your luck." Sam threatened him.
"You know what happens when you tell me what to do." Mickey snapped, kicking Sam in the leg.

This was the final straw for Sam. He pulled Mickey off the bed and carried him downstairs against his will. He carried him to the living room, setting him down on the ground. He kept hold of his top so he didn't run away.
"Say sorry now." Sam glared at Mickey.
"Sorry Ella, sorry Mason." Mickey sighed, rolling his eyes and sighing. He started back up the stairs but Sam interrupted him.
"Mickey, get down here now." Sam instructed him.
"What? I've said sorry." Mickey replied, rolling his eyes.
"Not properly you haven't. Sit down on the sofa and say it properly." Sam told him.
"How about no?" Mickey argued, kicking the stairs.
"Mickey! Get here now!" Sam repeated himself, picking Mickey up and putting him back on the sofa.
"Get off me! I hate you!" Mickey yelled at Sam, kicking him in the legs.
"Apologise properly and then you can go to bed." Sam told him, repeating himself for what must have seemed like the millionth time.
"I'm ever so sorry I was really rude and mean. I won't do it again." Mickey spoke up, clearly in a sarcastic tone.
"Mickey!" Sam glared at him.
"Sam it's fine, honestly, don't keep forcing him to apologise otherwise he won't do it sincerely." I told him.
"Finally she's got some sense." Mickey snorted, rolling his eyes.
"Just go to bed Mickey. I'm getting tired of your attitude lately." Sam sighed, collapsing on the sofa.
"Look, I've had worse said to me, believe me. I can deal with some snooty.." I began to say before Sam looked at me.
"I'd watch what you say next if I were you Ella. He might be a little brat but he's still my son." Sam told me.
"Yeah sorry. What I meant is I'm used to dealing with kids who don't like me to start with. They end up growing to love me because how can you not?" I laughed, sitting next to him.
"Well that's true, who wouldn't love you? Anyway, what you said about it being fine, it's not fine Ella, that boy needs to learn respect and he's not going to if he thinks he can speak to and treat people the way he wants to. Speaking of which, Mason, I've heard you hit Mickey on the head." Sam sighed, looking at Mason.
"Well, yeah I did but only because he pushed me." Mason replied, looking sheepish.
"Well he shouldn't have pushed you but you shouldn't have hit him as well. As a punishment, there's no tv for either of you tomorrow and he's going to get told the same don't worry." Sam told him.
"Yes dad. Can I go to bed now please?" Mason asked him quietly, clearly looking more remorseful than his brother.
"Yes of course, night Mason." Sam replied to Mason.
"Night dad, night Ella. Love you dad and you're alright I guess Ella." Mason smiled, hugging us both.
"Night cheeky." I grinned at Mason.
"Get to bed you, it's already way past your bedtime and I love you too kid." Sam smiled at Mason, ruffling his hair.
"So how come no other employers want you if you're so good with kids?" Sam asked me, trying to change the subject.
