"So, we're home!" Jungkook cheered, dropping his bags to the floor with a careless thump that the downstairs neighbours probably didn't appreciate. "What should we do now?"
"I vote for sleep," said Taehyung, rubbing his eyes with one hand.
"We need to get back in our own time zone," Namjoon told him. "We should all do our laundry and take a shower before anything else."
"Besides, you're going to want to sleep well tonight. We have a big day tomorrow," said Hoseok.
Yoongi froze. "Why? What...what's happening tomorrow?"
The room went quiet and everyone exchanged glances.
"Guys, I...what...what's going on?" I don't know what I did wrong, but I'm sorry, I'm sorry for being a burden, please don't punish me—
"We wanted to surprise you," Namjoon admitted, the beginnings of a disappointed frown playing on his lips as he shot a look at Hoseok. "We were planning on celebrating tomorrow."
"Celebrating...?" Yoongi's initial panic was replaced by sheer confusion.
"Celebrating you coming home, and all the holidays you missed," Hoseok supplied. "Sorry for ruining the surprise."
"We waited for you," said Taehyung. "To celebrate the holidays, I mean. We waited for you."
"You...you did?"
"Of course! We couldn't celebrate without you!" Jungkook chimed in.
Yoongi's heart swelled. They'd waited for him. Not knowing whether he was alive or dead, his friends had waited for him. Tears once again started to prick at his eyes.
"There's no rush!" Seokjin blurted, thinking Yoongi was crying out of fear or sadness. "We don't have to do it all tomorrow. Your family is coming to see you in a couple of days so we can do it while they're here or even after they leave if you want. It's all up to you."
"Yeah. Sorry," Namjoon agreed. "We didn't mean to make you feel like you had to do it all right away. We can celebrate the holidays whenever you're ready. Besides, the first thing we're going to do tomorrow is celebrate you coming home."
"And when we do, if you just happen to feel up to dressing in Halloween costumes, opening Christmas presents, and having Thanksgiving dinner with birthday cake for dessert, then so be it," Jungkook added.
"Kookie!" Seokjin scolded.
But before anyone could properly reprimand the maknae for trying to pressure Yoongi into something he wasn't ready for, a sound came from the corner of the room. Everyone turned just in time to see Yoongi clap both hands over his mouth, his face bright red due to the noise he'd just let slip.
Taehyung blinked. "Was that..."
"Did you just...," Seokjin started.
"...Snort?" Hoseok finished for him.
Yoongi, still not moving his hands, nodded.
Suddenly, Jungkook burst into a fit of laughter. One by one, the others followed suit, until even Yoongi lowered his hands to rest on his chest, and he laughed, too. A huge, genuine, gummy smile showed through for the first time in months.
"So, Yoongi," Seokjin said once the laughter had died down enough for him to be heard, "do you think you'll be up to celebrating tomorrow? No pressure, I just need to know if I need to prepare any food tonight."
Yoongi shrugged. "I think so?"
"That sounded very convincing," Jungkook said under his breath. Taehyung shoved him.
