There were the sounds of birds chirping by my window.
Chirp.
Chirp.
Chirp.
Sometimes the sounds of their chirping were beautiful and peaceful but somedays, they were a pain in the ass. Especially when they are disturbing the beauty rest of others. Like do they not have any type of respect for others? Probably not. Or maybe they just wanted to be heard. Maybe they make these noises because they want people to hear them. They want to be heard.
Is that how it was with people, too? People speak a lot because they just want to be heard. But why do the loudest ones always have to speak? Why were they the ones that needed to be heard? Its the ones that are the most quietest that needs to be heard. The quiet ones.
I groaned in annoyance as I squeezed my head in between the ends of my pillow--trying to cover my ears enough so that i don't have to hear those damn birds. It didn't work. They were still so loud, but I needed to rest before I had to get up and finish that report I had for Oliver's class. How crazy that my own boyfriend doesn't give me an easy pass to his class. Like, I deserve to be treated special. I am his boyfriend after all. We've only been dating for a month now, I deserve special treatment. Right? Right.
I closed my eyes again and waited for sleep to take control of my body but just when I thought i was about fall back into my slumber, my goddamn alarm went off. That's when I yelled out in frustration. I hated it here. I had completely forgotten I didn't have my own room and that my roommate, Isaiah actually stayed over. He was always gone. Always spent the night in his girlfriend's apartment. He only ever stayed in our dorm when he had class early in the morning.
"Yo, can you turn that shit off? First these goddamn bird chirping in me ear and now your alarm," He groaned. I quickly grabbed my phone and stopped the alarm. I checked for any notifications. No sign of Oliver. Weird. I shrugged it off and pushed myself to sit up. "Why do you have an alarm for today? I thought you didn't have any class today?"
"I don't." I slipped out of bed and grabbed my towel that hung on the back of desk chair. " Mr. Garrett assigned us to answer an open response question and it's due tomorrow. I have yet to start it."
Isaiah moaned and sat up on his bed, rubbing on his eyes as if he was shaking away all his tiredness.
"I'll be here again tonight. We got practice in the morning, is your boy coming tomorrow? He hasn't been coming to practice."Honestly, I didn't even know if Zach was returning to the football team. It was true, he stopped showing up for the practices and I didn't think it was the right choice for him. Football was always a distraction for Zach. Whenever he was going through something, he would always come on campus and ask me to play with him. That was our thing. Football.
