Last night, my dad had called me to ask if I was going to his gender reveal, and quite honestly, I didn't have an answer for him. I thought avoiding them would make them not ask me anymore--I was wrong. I climbed out of bed to make myself some coffee and some avocado on toast. It was only eleven in the morning; it was my off day. The gender reveal party is this weekend, and if I were to decide if I would attend, I did not want to go alone and, since none of my friends here have met my family, I was scared to ask.
After I finished making my breakfast, I sit down and go over my unfinished college assignments. Online school isn't so bad until you start getting assigned unnecessary essays. I never liked the idea of going to a campus university or a community college where I have to go into a classroom filled with hundreds of strangers that I don't know.
That's just what happens when you suffer from social anxiety. I don't show it that much, but since I am minoring in communications, I have to be somewhat social. I took my time on some essays that weren't due until the end of the week; instead, I finished the ones due in a few hours. I finished up my breakfast and went to clean my dishes. I was planning on cleaning my messy apartment today since I had nothing else to do. So after I washed my used plate, I made my way towards my bedroom.
Suddenly, my phone rang. I picked it up to see the caller ID was Zach.
"Hello?" I said as I put my phone on speaker.
"What are you doing today?" He immediately asked. His voice was raspy and deep-- guess, he had just woke up.
"Cleaning. It's my day off, and I need to clean my apartment."
"Can you come over?" He asked. A deep yawn followed after.
"Did you just wake up?" I asked, ignoring his question.
"Yes."
I smirked, "so was I the first person you thought of when you woke up?"
He chuckled. I could hear him shift on his bed before he spoke. I walked away from my phone to enter my bathroom to grab some cleaning supplies.
"Actually, I called Chase and Aaliyah first to see if they wanted to hang."
"Let me guess they had better things to do?" I asked.
"Is there better things to do than to hang out with me?" I could tell he was smirking on the other line.
"Yes."
"Is cleaning better than hanging out with me?"
"Zach, I have to clean."
"You'll clean later."
I stood silent. Did I really want to clean on my day off or hang out with Zach?
"Are you still there?"
"No."
"No, you're not still there? or no, you don't want to come over?" He asked for clarification.
"No, I'm not here." I clarify.
"So, you do want to come over?" He asked.
I groaned. I rubbed the middle of between my eyebrows. Zach wasn't going to take no for an answer-- especially since his only other friends already said no to him-- so I rolled my eyes in defeat.
"Fine, I'll go over to your house."
"Yes," he cheered.
I chuckled, "only if you buy me food."
